The ‘Talk To Me’ TikTok Trend Might Help You Find Your Match

If you’ve ever wanted to track down someone with a specific set of skills or interests, the Talk To Me TikTok trend is for you. Maybe you’re looking for a new hairstylist who won’t accidentally dye your dark hair bleach blonde or you simply want to date someone who will agree to watch movies with you over FaceTime. Whatever your reasons, I won’t judge — but it’s time to jump on the #TalkToMe bandwagon if you want to find your ideal match.

Trust me, if you’re looking for someone with specific qualities, whether for dating, friendship, or otherwise, this trend is going to be your new favorite. It features original audio from TikTok user 1lilnaz, and if the catchy soundbite hasn’t made its way to your feed yet, it’s about to be in your head for the rest of the day. Sorry, not sorry.

In each video, TikTokers hint at something they’re looking for or are attracted to, whether it’s a new friend to get coffee with or a post-gym Chipotle date. While some users are straightforward in their asks, other TikTokers are putting a clever spin on the trend by teasing oddly specific clues about someone they’re looking for, like “when his name is literally a vegetable” (peep the comment section for a laugh) or “when their name starts with ‘D’ and rhymes with COVID.” Dovid? Really? I’m still trying to figure it out.

While some versions of the trend mimic real-life situations, like when your professor wants to talk after you failed your test, most TikTok users are using the trend to track down their dream partner, like Tay, who just wants a tall, brown-haired guy with a low Snapchat score who doesn’t post on social media. Seriously man, are you out there? She just wants to talk.

To try the Talk To Me trend for yourself, think of someone you’d be 100% down to attract. Then, grab the original trending sound from TikTok, boost your confidence, and get ready to manifest. Be sure to write the oddly specific thing you’re looking for and include it in your video — a 6’1” skater boy with a secret passion for rom-coms? A person who plays Roblox? Someone with tattoos? A Virgo? And for the full effect of this trend, add this little hand gesture in time with the lyrics. May the games begin.
