Sofia Richie Grainge Is Pregnant & Told Her Family In The Cutest Way

2024 is already off to a pretty good start for celebrities, especially Sofia Richie Grainge, who has been one of my favorite people to keep up with over the years. On Jan. 25, Richie shared a very exciting announcement with her Instagram followers. She revealed she is expecting her first child with her husband Elliot Grainge. I am so excited.

Richie’s pregnancy announcement was posted on both her and British Vogie’s Instagram accounts. Following her beautiful wedding in April 2023, Richie has grown as a fashion icon, become a master of the slick back bun, and released a beautiful collection with Djerf Avenue that sold out in seconds. Now, Richie is ready to enter a new era in her life: motherhood.

While Richie posts frequently on her social media, she’s been keeping her pregnancy under wraps for a while. Months, to be exact. And, it looks like Richie is about to have a mini-me because she announced that she’s having a girl!

In her exclusive interview with British Vogue, she shared that she was shocked to find out she’s having a girl because her and Grainge “really thought it was a boy, so it was a true shock.” But, it seems like this was a dream come true for her. “My dream in life is to have a daughter [though], and Elliot is really excited for a girl too. I think it’s so typical for boys to want boys, but he has a lot of sisters. It was really sweet. He’s very sensitive,” she said.

Despite how private Richie has kept her pregnancy, she shared a lot of details with British Vogue and they’re really interesting. Richie honors her mental health, and noted that keeping this decision private for a while was the best thing for her and Grainge. “Pregnancy is really scary and you want to protect that space,” she explains. “I didn’t realize there are so many milestones you have to hit and so many tests you have to take. For me, it was really important to protect our mental health and our space as a couple,” she said.

She also got transparent about the limited understanding she had about the female body before her pregnancy. “It is incredible to see somebody a high-profile and well-liked as Richie raising awareness about this topic, because it’s something that all women should be aware of. I’ve learned more in the past six months than I have in my entire life,” she admitted. “And also just like what the female body is capable of. Every week brings new things, whether it’s hormonal shifts or expansion—there’s just so much our bodies go through, and it’s so interesting to experience it all.”

Like many others, Richie is one of my fashion icons and she’s not going to let pregnancy stop her from wearing the best of the best. She told British Vogue, “I’m not really tapping into maternity wear at all, if anything, I’m just sizing up. I’m also not buying an entirely new wardrobe for this pregnancy. I’ve bought a few pairs of pants in bigger sizes, but I’m wearing my same jackets, and sweaters, and trenches — I’m about to have some fun with it now that I can spread my wings and fly.”

And don’t worry, her future daughter already has the best closet. Richie said that she has “so many ideas – just cute and girly,” but she also has pieces she’s held onto over the years to save for her future kid. “I’ve held onto things, and thought, ‘Oh my daughter will have this one day,’” she said. “I have a lot of little bags to pass down. I have a lot in mind.” Baby Richie Grainge is already the coolest kid and she isn’t born yet!

I’m not the only one who’s excited about this pregnancy announcement. People on Twitter are going crazy, and I totally get it.

2024 is going to be quite the year for Richie. I’m hoping there is a David Yurman collaboration in store for some mommy-and-me jewelry pieces.
