If you were one of the fans desperately waiting for the rumored Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez collab to be announced, unfortunately, you’ll be waiting even longer. (Maybe even indefinitely.) On Feb. 27, Miley Cyrus finally revealed the tracklist for her highly-anticipated album, Endless Summer Vacation. This reveal comes after the huge success of the lead single, “Flowers.” It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and has stayed there for six consecutive weeks. This is Miley’s second No. 1 since her legendary single, “Wrecking Ball,” from her Bangerz album in 2013. (Both songs are rumored to be about her ex, Liam Hemsworth, BTW). With all of this success, it’s no doubt that fans are anxiously waiting to hear the rest of the album.
For every album release, there’s bound to be many rumors and fan theories. Mostly, who the songs were written about and who’s going to be featured on the album. For the past few weeks, there’s been a rumor circulating on fan accounts that Selena Gomez would be featured on a song called “Jaded.” Even though this rumor came from an undisclosed *insider,* fans still had hope that this collab was possibly true. Selena even posted on her TikTok story singing along to “Flowers,” which many fans thought was a hint that she was actually featured on the album.
As fans look at the tracklist today, it only has two collaborations. Sia is featured on a song called, “Muddy Feet” and Brandi Carlile is featured on “Thousand Miles.” The rumored song Jaded is definitely on the album – but there’s no Selena feature whatsoever. Of course, fans are noticeably upset. One fan tweeted, “FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LIED ABOUT SELENA GOMEZ BEING ON MILEY CYRUS’S NEW ALBUM… TRUST, YOU WILL BE DEALT WITH.” While another said, “Wishing the selena collab was real but can not wait for this MILEY IS COMING.”
Fans are even storming Miley’s Instagram comments begging for the Selena collab. Fans wrote, “No Selena collab we lost,” and “WHERE IS SELENA GOMEZ?!??!!!?” But thankfully, there’s still hope out there for the disappointed fans. There’s now a rumor that Selena will actually be featured in the music video for “Jaded” instead of the song. She will potentially be starring in the music video alongside Paris Hilton, recreating her iconic “holy trinity” paparazzi car moment from 2006 with Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears. There are even rumors that Nick Jonas will make a cameo in the video, too. Obviously, fans are taking these rumors with a grain of salt, so their hearts won’t get broken for a second time. One skeptical fan tweeted, “Not gonna believe it this time.”
Hopefully, if this rumor is actually true, it will be the Miley and Selena interaction that fans have been wanting for years. Whether it’s a potential collab or just a cameo in a music video, it will definitely be an iconic pop culture moment. Miley’s album, Endless Summer Vacation, will be released on March 10.
