Move over, Kardashians β a new family is entering the reality TV game. Earle Meets World Season 1 premiered on Netflix on Sept. 4, and not only are fans learning more about Alix Earle, but they’re also getting the tea on some of her closest friends. In Episode 2, it was revealed what Earle’s best friend, Sally Carden, does for a job β and fans might find it shocking. Spoiler alert: Spoilers for Earle Meets World Season 1 follow.
Along with being close friends with Earle, Carden is a popular content creator based in New York City. Her content mainly focuses on lifestyle and day-in-the-life vlogs, which have garnered her more than 450,000 followers across platforms. Now, fans of Carden might know that she graduated with a degree in marketing from the College of Charleston, but aside from social media, there isn’t much about there about her post-grad career. However, in Earle Meets World, it was revealed that content creation wasn’t Carden’s main gig. In fact, Carden played a pretty big role in Earle’s career in social media.
In the second episode of Earle Meets World, it’s revealed that Carden works for Earle, mainly managing her Snapchat account. “Nobody knows that I work for Alix,” she said. “We kind of just wanted to keep it quiet at first because we didn’t want people thinking that she was paying me for being around.”
Carden also explained that working for Earle happened pretty organically. “I was looking for a job [and] she needed to hire somebody,” she said. “People think I’m a nepo baby β I’m not a nepo baby, but I’m a nepo friend.”
As for what Carden actually does, she’s in charge of taking Earle’s content β which she uploads into a shared album β and repurposing it on Snapchat after it’s uploaded. However, the workflow is a slight point of contention between Carden and TJ Earle, Alix Earle’s dad and manager. “We’re, like, down crazy numbers from last year,” he told Carden on a call discussing her role.
Carden said that, while she does like working for Earle, it’s hard to balance their friendship with their working relationship. “Half the time I’m spamming her to send me photos, so I can’t really work,” she said. “It’s always so awkward.”
Did Alix Earle Fire Sally Carden?
Short answer: yes. Conflicts at work came to a head in Episode 3, where Earle fired Carden while on a ski trip to Aspen. However, despite being fired by her best friend, Carden said she was relieved. “I think we’ll grow a lot closer now that we’re not working together,” she said. “We can just be friends again and not have work involved.”
As it stands, it looks like Carden is now focusing on Earle Meets World and her career on social media. (Two pretty good gigs, IMHO.) And after seeing her on the show, I know I’m not the only one excited to see where Carden goes from here.
