If you’re anything like me, then when you watched Season 1 of Heated Rivalry, you were low-key obsessed with Rose Landry. Played by Sophie Nélisse, Rose is an American film actress who becomes an important part of Shane Hollander’s life after they meet at a bar in Episode 4. She’s the ultimate socialite, has killer style, and, according to Shane, she’s “one of the biggest movie stars in the world.” Rose’s kind nature is a key element in Shane coming to terms with his identity by the end of the first season. Considering the part she plays in the show, will Rose be in Heated Rivalry Season 2?
There is little information on what fans can expect for Heated Rivalry Season 2. It is likely that the plot will resemble Rachel Reid’s literary sequel, The Long Game, which continues Shane and Ilya’s story. Reid acknowledged the surprising fan response to Scott and Kip’s relationship, and is considering how they might be included in the next season. But what about Rose? Will there be room for her?
Have Any Cast Members Been Confirmed For Heated Rivalry Season 2?
Shane and Ilya will definitely be back, as stars Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams have signed a three-season contract. But other than that, this is the only confirmation of returning cast members that have been shared as of publication.
In an interview with Variety, actor François Arnaud (who plays Scott) did not confirm or deny his character’s’s return, but shared his thoughts on what that could look like. “If [Scott and Kip] are in [Season 2], I would want them to face the continuing challenges of bringing that [love story] into real life,” he said.
Is Rose Landry In The Other Game Changers Novels?
Rose appears in four chapters of The Long Game and is mentioned briefly in Common Goal, the fourth book in the Rachel Reid Game Changers series. All of the novels exist within the same hockey universe, so a reappearance in the television adaptation is definitely possible.
Is Sophie Nélisse Currently In Production For Any Other Projects?
Yes, Nélisse is currently in production for Season 3 of Yellowjackets for Showtime, which could keep her a bit busy. The 25-year-old Canadian actress is set to appear in a few other projects that have already wrapped, including the horror film Whistle coming out on Feb. 6, and a Canadian television series, L’Indétectable, or Deep Fake, which will premiere on March 20 on the French streaming platform TOU.TV.
When is Season 2 of Heated Rivalry Coming Out?
Heated Rivalry was renewed for a second season by Crave and HBO Max on Dec. 12 after Episode 4 aired. On HBO Max’s Instagram, Storrie and Williams unwrapped the ultimate gift to fans: a hockey puck with the words “Heated Rivalry” and “Season 2” written on it.
Heated Rivalry screenwriter Jacob Tierny gave some hints as to when we can expect our version of hockey season to return. “It will not be the same time next year, but it’ll be pretty soon after that,” Tierny said in an exclusive with Entertainment Weekly. “It’s not gonna be two years. It’s not even gonna be 18 months, I don’t think. So we’re gonna go as fast as we can, while ensuring that we’re doing as good a job as we possibly can.”
Although no one wants to wait that long to go back to the cottage, it may be good news for Rose fans, as it could give time for Nélisse to finish up with Yellowjackets. Until then, there is plenty of time to read the Game Changers novel series, and rewatch Heated Rivalry as many times as humanly possible.
