Here’s Everything We Know About The ‘Bridgerton’ Spinoff, ‘Queen Charlotte’

It’s official: I’m re-entering my regency era. On March 23, Netlifx released the trailer for Queen Charlotte. which is a spinoff of the hugely popular Bridgerton franchise. Grab your corsets and petticoats, besties — we’re going back in time.

While the past installments of the Bridgerton franchise have taken place in a linear sequence, Queen Charlotte appears to tell the story of Her Majesty: her friendships, ascension to the throne, and (of course) her love story with King George of England. However, it’s not Bridgerton without a bit of drama: The trailer alludes to lots of secrets, betrayal, and all of the pearl-clutching moments we all love the franchise for. (It also includes, you guessed it, steamy, passionate, tension-filled spicy scenes.) It’s honestly giving everything you thought it would give — perhaps even more.

Based on the trailer, it looks like the series will flash back and forth between Charlotte’s past and Bridgerton‘s present timeline. So, we’ll be seeing some familiar — and lovable — faces along with some fresh and new talent. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait.

Who is in the cast of queen charlotte: A Bridgerton Story?

As I mentioned before, there are a few familiar faces in the Bridgerton spinoff. Golda Rosheuvel is reprising her role as Queen Charlotte, Hugh Sachs is returning as the loyal Brimsley, and the iconic Adjoa Andoh will be back as Lady Agatha. But along with the OGs, there’s a whole new cast to bring a fresh take on the characters we know and love.

India Amarteifio, a 21-year-old actress from the U.K., will be playing the title role of young Queen Charlotte. Playing opposite, as her love interest, is Corey Mylchreest, an up-and-coming English actor. Joining the main characters are Arsema Thomas (young Agatha) and Sam Clemmett (young Brimsley), among others.

When does Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story come out?

Bridgerton fans, rejoice! Netflix didn’t keep us waiting for the official release date: Queen Charlotte will start streaming on May 4, 2023, only on Netflix.

Since the show doesn’t come out for a few months, there’s no confirmation of a second Queen Charlotte season coming anytime soon. However, I’ll be sure to update you on any up-and-coming Bridgerton news in the future. Until then, catch me buying powdered wigs and listening to string covers of my favorite pop songs.
