Wait, Did Pete Davidson Get Cut From Season 2 Of ‘The Kardashians’?

It’s no shock to anyone that Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson’s romance broke the internet earlier this year. Their nine-month public relationship captured everyone’s attention, but after their public split, an important question remained: Would Davidson be cut from the second season of The Kardashians? Everyone and their mother was anticipating the inclusion of Kim’s relationship with the popular comedian, but all of that may have just been wiped clean now that The Kardashians Season 2 premiered on Sept. 22 on Hulu.

After the longrunning Keeping Up With the Kardashians series on E! came to an end, viewers really thought we had seen the end of the famous family’s reality television era. Alas, we should’ve never underestimated Kris Jenner’s business ambitions, as it was announced in 2020 that the family would be hitting our screens again, this time on Hulu in The Kardashians, which has so far showcased a less-filtered, more sincere side to the family.

After a clip of Pete talking to Kim during an interview was included in the ending credits of Season 1, the internet wondered if the SNL host would make more appearances on the show’s second season. That question was quickly answered when the debut The Kardashians Season 2 trailer premiered.

The standout moment from the trailer came from a sneak peek of their relationship when Kim asked Davidson in a rushed moment, “Babe, do you want to shower with me really quick?” To which, Pete jokingly threw his phone down and ran off with Kim, fueling the burning fire fans had to see him on the next season.

Fans’ anticipation for Davidson in the second season of the show came crashing down, however, when the duo announced they had broken up around Aug. 5. What would this mean for the show? Davidson was already such a talking point of the plot for Season 2; did this mean he would be cut out completely?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but yes, apparently Davidson’s features on the show are likely going to be cut. During a Sept. 19 interview on Good Morning America, Kim highlighted the self-growth and independence that she’s gone through on the second season, saying, “Obviously, I’m always thinking about my kids, but generally [I’m] just doing things for myself.”

Davidson’s exclusion from the show was even more evident after more trailers for Season 2 were published. The trailers placed more emphasis on news like Khloe Kardashian’s pregnancy via surrogate with Tristan Thompson, the birth of Kylie Jenner’s second child with Travis Scott, and, of course, Kourtney Kardashian’s elaborate destination wedding with Travis Barker.

The internet was shocked when it was revealed that Kim and Davidson were actually a thing, after a multitude of rumors and paparazzi pictures of the two surfaced online. After the two shared an on-screen kiss in a skit from Kim’s Saturday Night Live hosting appearance on Oct. 9, 2021, relationship rumors began a few weeks later and soon enough, the pair were Instagram official.

Executive producer of The Kardashians Danielle King even hinted at Davidson’s involvement in the upcoming season when she was featured on an episode of Deadline’s Crew Call podcast with the Jenner matriarch herself back in June, when Kim and Davidson were still going strong.

King noted that Davidson’s TV experience was not necessarily geared towards a reality format, explaining, “When the cameras are rolling for him, it means performance time, […] When the cameras are rolling for this family, it’s time to get real. It’s a different muscle that they worked and he worked.” She did mention that Davidson went with Kim to the Met Gala, an experience that they filmed for The Kardashians, and that he was reportedly a big part of, so it remains to be seen if we’ll get a glimpse of him in those scenes.

With the never-ending drama that surrounds the KarJenner family, it’s clear that there will be plenty of reality gold to tune in for with the second season of The Kardashians. That doesn’t mean that fans aren’t gutted by Davidson’s possible exclusion from the show. I guess we’ll just have to keep watching the season to see if Davidson will be completely cut.
