This Is Not A Drill: Nicki Minaj Is Dropping Her First Album In 5 Years

Calling all Barbz. I repeat, calling all Barbz. Nicki Minaj has confirmed that her next album will be out this year, and the internet is going wild (including me). Minaj has been keeping busy with new singles and feature collaborations, including a duet record with Ice Spice for the Barbie movie soundtrack. So it came as quite a surprise when Minaj took to Twitter to unveil her next project: her new album.

Not many details have been revealed about Album No. 5 yet, other than the fact that it will be released in October, but it didn’t take long for Barbz to panic since Minaj was releasing another album after five years. Have any questions about her next album? Don’t worry, I’ll tell you exactly what to expect!

When will Nicki Minaj’s next album be released?

On June 5, Minaj posted on her Twitter account, writing “The Album” and the date “10/20/23.” This will be Minaj’s first album release in five years, following the release of Queen back in 2018. With only a little more than four months until its release, who knows what surprises and teasers will be released in the months that follow.

What’s the album title?

We’re not sure if the album has a name yet, because there aren’t many hints from Minaj’s tweet. Some fans believe the album will literally be titled The Album. It’s not the first time an artist has used that as the title of a project, with Blackpink naming their debut album The Album in 2020. To be honest, I think that title would be really iconic if Minaj does use it.

What songs will be featured on the album tracklist?

While we don’t know what songs will be on the album just yet, fans have been able to speculate on which tracks that have already been released could be included. Songs like last summer’s hit single “Super Freaky Girl,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, could be among the lineup. Minaj also released another single, “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” in March, which became popular on TikTok. Maybe the top singles she released in the last year are a preview of some of the tracks that will be included on the upcoming album. Keep an eye on this space for updates if anything new emerges in the coming weeks.

Minaj wants her fans to know that her new album will be epic.

According to Rap-Up, Minaj has been vocal about her forthcoming project even before revealing the release date. She discussed her aspirations and ambitions for the album in a live on AMP in July when a fan mentioned it, saying during the live, “The album is gonna be f*cking epic. … I was listening to the songs yesterday and I just was falling more and more in love with the way everything is feeling right now, in relation to the music and to my fans.”

When discussing the effort she initially placed on her album, she continued, “I do think at some point I probably was doing a lot of overthinking and waiting and yada yada yada. And then I realized, it’s so important, y’all, to have fun with life and as I always say, be in the moment, try to be in the moment. And do your best.”
