Raven From ‘Love Is Blind’ Isn’t Sorry About Wanting SK To Pay Rent

Love Is Blind Season 3 has had a lot of WTF moments — from Bartise blatantly calling another woman a “smokeshow” in front of his fianceé to Alexa asking Brennon for a prenup to Andrew crying fake tears, this season really is unhinged. But another moment that has fans mega-confused is when Raven told SK that he should pay half her rent when they’re married — even though he’d be in another state and not even living in their place. I’m sorry, but what?

Raven and SK fell for each other in the pods (sight unseen and all of that, yada yada yada), but their relationship hasn’t come without challenges. From struggling to initiate a physical connection to navigating cultural differences, the couple has had their fair share of ups and downs in the real world. But another huge issue for Raven and SK has been the fact that SK is going off to grad school at University of California, Berkeley in the fall to get his master’s degree — meaning that the two would have to do long distance right after the altar, if they were to get married. The two are currently based in Dallas, Texas, and Raven has made it very clear that she doesn’t want to move to California for SK while he’s in school.

As someone who’s been doing long distance for over four years, I get that it may not be for everyone, and it can definitely put a strain on a relationship. Long distance is work — but Raven’s concern didn’t seem to be about that aspect of it. Instead, she was more worried about her spending habits potentially being affected by SK going to school.

In one scene in Episode 6, Raven and SK were talking about school and finances and Raven was expressing her worries. While SK assured her that he had a “full scholarship” and would be willing to fly back and forth between the two states to see her (aww) whenever he could, Raven still seemed to be concerned about her personal lifestyle choices and spending habits “suffering” by his decision to go to grad school. Um, yikes.

“I’m so proud of you for all your school and stuff, but for my life, I definitely don’t want my quality of living to suffer,” Raven told SK. “I know that probably sounds really bad, like if you’re hopelessly in love, it shouldn’t matter how you live…” She continued, “I think that I would probably keep my own house, my own apartment. I like the convenience, living next to the mall. It’s very close to my job.” Which, OK, is fine, but then there’s the icing on the cake: “If we’re getting married, I think that even if you’re not living in Dallas, we should both be paying the rent of where I’m living. I think that is fair.” OK, but who’s paying for where SK is living in California? If we’re talking about “fair,” wouldn’t that mean that Raven would chip in on SK’s rent, too? Just saying.

Fans were also a bit taken aback by Raven’s comments and took to Twitter to debate if SK should really be paying Raven’s rent.

After facing online backlash, Raven took to TikTok to clap back at her haters — and her videos were pretty blunt, to say the least. In one video, Raven captioned it, “Pay my [own] bills?!!! Couldn’t be me 💀🤣.”

A user commented on the second video, saying, “But she’s ‘independent’ and a ‘business woman,’” to which Raven replied using another popular TikTok audio. (And yeah, she did kind of call that user “lame.”)

OK, so I guess Raven isn’t sorry about asking SK to pay her rent — but will he actually, and will the two walk down the aisle? Episodes eight through 10 of Season 3 of Love Is Blind premiere on Netflix on Wednesday, Nov. 2.
