What Does Lisa’s Letter Say In The “Tarantino” Music Video? Fans Might’ve Figured It Out

Lisa has had a pretty busy year: from performing at the VMA’s, releasing her documentary, Always LaLisa, to dropping a collab with PlayStation, the Thai star has been feeding her fans. And on Oct. 23, her newest EP, Press Play, dropped after months of anticipation. The lead single, “SaWaDiKa,” has grossed over 216 million views since its release a month ago alone, and a very catchy TikTok dance to follow. Her latest music video, for “Tarantino,” is next-level, with ultimate fight scenes that feel like an actual Tarantino movie.

The week of Oct. 12, Lisa began teasing “Tarantino.” The video itself is pretty amazing, with an interesting plot: Lisa serves two looks, and her main mission — as she fights her way through the hotel she’s staying at — is to submit a proposal to her favorite director, Quentin Tarantino, for a movie she wants to be in. Tarantino, of course, is one of the biggest directors of our time, whose repertoire includes films like Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs.

At the beginning of the video, Lisa is on the phone with someone on her management team, who informs her that her “favorite director” is still staying in the same hotel she’s in. Based on the song title, we can easily guess that this “favorite director” is Tarantino. She tells Lisa to bring him her letter, which viewers can see sitting on a desk beside a red envelope. During the music video, Lisa takes down her opps and slides the letter underneath the door of this “favorite director.” But Lisa never gives viewers a clear shot of what the letter says. Thankfully, social media sleuths have figured some out.

The contents of the letter are, apparently, as follows: “I heard you were staying at the hotel, so excuse my forwardness. I’ve always dreamed of being in one of your films. Not as myself, as someone neither of us has met yet. Someone dangerous. Someone unforgettable. Someone I could completely disappear into and maybe never want to come back from. She is a character we could create together, so I figured I’d start by introducing myself.”

Fans are pretty quick at finding Easter eggs, and as far as this one goes, it’s pretty cool. At the end of the video, “Tarantino” finds the letter Lisa left for him slid under his door in his hotel room. He picks it up and brings it back to his desk, where we see what he’s been working on.

Ironically, the script he’s looking at is titled HER, and the cover image appears to be a woman who looks a lot like Lisa as she goes through the hotel, fighting her way through the staff to make it to her final destination, which would be Tarantino’s hotel room.

The video itself is shot like a Tarantino movie, too: high-action, fast-paced, with Lisa’s own signature sound and brand easily evident through the creative decisions. The video coming full-circle is so meta, and just the latest when it comes to Lisa’s genius.

You can stream Lisa’s EP, PRESS PLAY, on all platforms now!
