Jake Shane will be adding “executive producer” to his resume with the latest project he’s working on. The Therapuss podcast host and comedian is coming to Hulu! Shane will be executive producing and starring in a Hulu comedy series, with a story based on his early career and life. Shane will play himself, and the show will also feature “his best friends as they navigate the chaotic new world of online fame, the strain it puts on their friendships, and the tension their presence causes in their suburban neighborhood.” So far, fans know that the series will have 30-minute episodes, but there’s no confirmation as to how many episodes will be released.
Shane took to Instagram to express his gratitude and excitement for the upcoming project. Shane captioned the three-image carousel with, “A dream come true with the team of my dreams…thank you.” Two of the images are screenshots from a Variety article announcing the series, and one features a group shot of Shane with the production team for the show. The comments are pretty star-studded, with lots of Shane’s friends and former Therapuss guests hyping him up. “INSANEEE,” Tate McRae commented, and Alix Earle added, “LETS GOOOOOOOO.” Julia Mervis, one of Shane’s longtime best friends, commented, “No words will ever describe how proud I am of you.”
In addition to Shane, several other notable executives are set to work on the show. Genevieve Aniello is set to write and executive produce the pilot. Prior to this, Aniello wrote the HBO Max series Hacks (in which Shane played a recurring character). Saturday Night Live director Paul Briganti will be directing and executive producing as well.
Aniello celebrated the announcement of the series as well, with a post to her Instagram account. The first image in the carousel shows her and Shane at a restaurant holding martinis. The last picture in the carousel shows a document labeled “Unt. Jake Shane Project.” Presumably a script, viewers can see a short snippet of dialogue labeled as the “Intro,” reading, “I will catch you up to speed on why/how I’m sitting here. Ever since I was a young boy in Washington Heights, New York, I have wanted to be famous.” Shane commented on the post saying, “I love u more than I love asking you questions.”
Shane debuted his Therapuss podcast in January 2024, and since then, has seen huge success. In 2025, he won a Webby Award for Best Comedy Creator and was listed among Forbes’ top creators. Shane has even embarked on two live comedy tours since the start of the podcast — the most recent being the 36-stop Live with Jake Shane tour. Given that Shane excels at every project he works on,the upcoming Hulu series is sure to be a hit.
