This Girl Inspired People With a Hilariously Unexpected Selfie

An 18-year-old mental health advocate ended up inspiring thousands of people after jokingly posted a selfie responding to her haters. Basically, she posted a selfie with her response to body-shamers everywhere written right on her chin—a big F*** YOU.

Hannah Battiste, from Eskasoni First Nation, Canada, first shared the photo on her Facebook account, where it has now been liked over four thousand times.

When Hannah took a marker to her face, the last thing she expected was to have her hugely inspiring, and totally kickass, Facebook post to her ~haters~ go viral. “I wrote it on my chin for humour at first but then I thought I’d make it meaningful,” Battiste told BuzzFeed News.

Battiste went on to explain that she had previously been hospitalized for attempting suicide and has since been coping with mental health issues and a prior sexual assault.

“I came home a changed person of course, but not in a way that people would think,” the teen poet said to BuzzFeed. “I was more hurt, but I found out I was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and generalized anxiety disorder. I think no matter what you go through, there is always a sunny day, even when it’s raining.”

People from around the world have expressed their support of Battiste, taking to Facebook and Twitter to share words of encouragement.

“It’s amazing, it makes me feel so happy and tingly inside when I see how many people I inspire,” Battiste told BuzzFeed. Despite recieving some negative comments, Battiste continues to remain positive and confident with her decision to share the now-famous selfie.

“The people who are being negative towards me and what I do is their business,” she said. “I don’t have a problem with my weight or my looks, others do.” As for us, we think Hannah is gorgeous—inside and out!
