Florence Pugh & Andrew Garfield May Play Love Interests In A New Movie & I Can’t Wait

Not only was March 12 the Oscars, but it was also the week it was reported by Deadline that Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh would be co-starring in a new movie together, called We Live in Time. Those watching the Academy Awards couldn’t help but notice how close the two were when they presented together during the show, which makes perfect sense considering they’ll be working opposite each other later this year.

Garfield is most known for his work in films such as The Social Network, the 2010 Spider-Man trilogy, and Tick, Tick…Boom! Pugh also has an expansive film resume that includes Lady Macbeth, Midsommar, Little Women, Black Widow, and the infamous Don’t Worry Darling

Just knowing that these two are going to be starring in the film together is enough to make me excited for the release, but here’s what’s known so far regarding the plot, the cast and crew, and the release date.

The We Live in Time plot may have fans swooning.

At the current moment, concrete details about the film are being kept under wraps. However, We Live in Time has been described as a “funny, deeply moving, immersive love story.” Given that short description, there are multiple ways this could go. I could either be sobbing my eyes out and need multiple boxes of tissues to get through this film, or I could add it to the list of movies that explain why my expectations for relationships are so high. Either way, as a lover of a good story, I’ll be here waiting for any more details as they’re announced.

The cast and crew hasn’t been revealed yet.

Apart from Pugh and Garfield, no information is known regarding potential co-stars. As for the director, Deadline reports the film is being directed by John Crowley. Crowley is most known for directing the Oscar-nominated 2015 period drama Brooklyn, which followed a young Irish immigrant (played by Saoirse Ronan) that fled to Brooklyn in the 1950s in hopes of getting a job and starting a new future. Alongside Crowley, the script will also be written by Nick Payne. Payne previously wrote scripts for the TV show Wanderlust as well as The Last Letter from Your Lover, starring Shailene Woodley.

Though primarily an actor, Benedict Cumberbatch is listed as the executive producer of the film. Cumberbach is known for his roles in Sherlock, War Horse, The Imitation Game, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Other producers for the film include Leah Clarke, Adam Ackland, and Guy Heeley. If Cumberbatch’s producing is anything like his acting, We Live in Time will be impressive.

When will We Live in Time be released?

As much as I wish there was, no release date has been announced for We Live in Time. Considering how busy Pugh is this year with all of her filming endeavors, I suppose that makes sense. However, filming will commence sometime later this year. At the end of the day, I can almost guarantee that it will be worth it to see these powerhouse actors work side by side.

Whether you enjoy a good romantic film as much as the next person or are a fan of Pugh and Garfield, We Live in Time is a film you should keep an eye out for. In the meantime, feel free to rewatch their adorable moments together at the Oscars, as well as their filmography.
