The cast of Prime Video’s Every Year After are no strangers to competition — I mean, it is a show that features a low-key love triangle, after all. IRL, the stars of the breakout series go head-to-head in a different terrain: the arcade bar. “We went to a bar once — it’s like a barcade — and they have, like, the shooting basketball thing,” Aurora Perrineau (who plays Chantal) tells Her Campus in an exclusive cast video alongside fellow Every Year After stars Joseph Chiu, Michael Bradway, and Abigail Cowen. “I saw something in there that I’ve never seen before.”
The cast spilled the tea about their competitive sides while playing Barry’s Bay Yearbook with Her Campus, where we asked Perrineau, Chiu, Bradway, and Cowen to give out superlatives to their castmates. So, who won the title of most competitive — and might be responsible for the aforementioned arcade bar snap? According to Perrineau and Chiu, it’s Cowen, who plays Delilah Mason in the series. And, in fact, Cowen agrees.
While Bradway (who plays Charlie Florek) gave the superlative to their other costar Matt Cornett (who plays his brother, Sam Florek), Cowen was upfront about her competitive nature — even going so far as to say she opts out of playing games at the arcade bar. Bradway laughed, realizing that Cowen sits out when it’s game time. “I will not play,” she says. “My blood pressure rises!”
And while Cowen won the co-crown for Most Competitive, the cast handed out plenty more superlatives in the video. For instance, Perrineau was named Most Likely To Take Over The Playlist At The Campfire — though Chiu (who plays Jordie) could easily take that title, too. “[Perrineau] had a speaker in her trailer — I found a way to connect [to it] next door, because we’re always next to each other in the trailer,” Chiu says. “And I would play ‘WAP’ at like, 6 a.m.” Taking over the campfire playlist? More like taking over the entire get-ready playlist.
Not only does the cast take over the barcade and the playlists, but they’re also all the Most Likely To Take Over The Tavern Dance Floor. “We all would go out dancing a lot, so I feel like it’s a big group effort,” Perrineau says.
Chiu agrees. “We would get in a circle, and then everyone gets to have their moment,” he says. IDK about you, but I’m manifesting my invite for the next time the cast goes out — and maybe stretching to take on Cowen in a 1v1 basketball game.
