2022 is truly the year of unexpected romantic couples. First, there were rumors of Sabrina Carpenter and Dylan O’Brien dating, then Leonardo DiCaprio and Gigi Hadid (which really confuses me, TBH), and now Dua Lipa and Trevor Noah… What is going on?! On Sept. 28, Lipa and Noah were spotted in the East Village in NYC, sharing a meal at a Jamaican restaurant called Miss Lily’s. After dinner, they sealed the night with several hugs and even a kiss, sparking dating rumors and sending the internet into a frenzy. (Her Campus reached out to reps from both Lipa and Noah but did not hear back by the time of publication.)
An eyewitness told Daily Mail, “They were quietly sat away from everyone else at [the] restaurant. It was clear they were into each other and sat close together throughout the meal.”
Lipa previously dated Anwar Hadid (Bella Hadid and Gigi Hadid’s younger brother), but the couple broke things off in December 2021 after almost two years. Noah’s last public relationship was with actress Minka Kelly, but the two also ended things in 2021.
What also has the internet buzzing is that the relationship rumors began to swirl around the same time Noah announced his departure from The Daily Show, where he hosted the show for seven years. On Sept. 29, Noah broke the news, saying, “I realized that after seven years, my time is up. But in the most beautiful way.” The 38-year-old comedian continued, “I remember when we first started… So many people didn’t believe in us. It was a crazy bet to make. I still think it was a crazy choice. And what a journey that it’s been.” Noah did not disclose when his last night would be hosting.
