What Does Blake From ‘LIB’ Do? His Job History Is Kind Of Wild

Spoiler alert: Spoilers for Love Is Blind Season 11 follow. On Oct. 14, Love Is Blind returned to Netflix with its eleventh season, giving viewers a look into the (low-key unhinged) Boston dating scene. The first five episodes focused on messy love triangles, confusing political conversations, and a very sudden breakup — but the thing I was most focused on? Well, that would be Blake’s job as an international yacht captain, as well as his job history before the show.

Viewers were introduced to Blake in the show’s first episode, where he instantly got into a love triangle with Benita, an insurance agent, and Erika, a marketing director. Off the bat, Blake struggled to choose between the two women: He was drawn to Benita’s straightforward and spirited energy, but also was attracted to Erika’s calmness. In Episode 4, however, Benita broke up with Blake because she “couldn’t handle” the fact that Blake was torn between two women. Benita also told Blake that he was making “the biggest mistake of his life” by not choosing to be with her, and left him in the pods.

In a total girl’s girl move, Benita approached Erika afterward to say that she was happy for her and wish her luck in her relationship with Blake. The two hugged, Benita left the show, and Blake ended up proposing to Erika later that episode.

But one of the main points of contention for Benita and Erika with Blake — aside from the love triangle — was his job. While in the pods, Blake regularly mentioned that he has to travel for his job, sometimes having to spend weeks, or months, overseas chartering yachts for large groups all over the world. Still, for the most part, Blake kept things pretty vague when it comes to his (very interesting) business ventures. So, I did a bit of digging.

Blake from Love Is Blind has a wild job HIstory.

While travel is a major part of his job, Blake is technically based in Boston. The company he charters with, Sailing Collective, is headquartered in New York City and provides private charters out of New York as well as various destinations around the globe.

But Blake wasn’t always a sailor. According to the Sailing Collective site, Blake actually began his career on Wall Street and started the world’s first carbon-negative distillery in California, Misadventure & Company. Along with crafting sustainable vodka, the distillery also operates as an event space and cocktail bar, also offering a limited brunch menu along with craft cocktails.

According to Sailing Collective, Blake is a full-time captain — so it’s safe to assume that he’s not a part of Misadventure & Company’s day-to-day work. Instead, he now charters yachts to Croatia, Greece, Italy, the Caribbean, and more. And, according to his Instagram, he’s currently in Kyrgyzstan — a small country in Central Asia known for its beautiful alpine lakes.

Are Erika and Blake from Love Is Blind still together?

As of Episode 5, yes — Erika and Blake are still together. The two went to Mexico with the other engaged couples and, so far, things looked like they were going well. So, we’ll all have to keep watching to see whether or not the two go the distance.
