20 Fall Romance Books That Are Totally Swoon-Worthy

Fall is upon us, which just happens to be the best time of the year, IMHO. Not only is it Gilmore Girls season, but it’s pumpkin spice lattes, sweater vests, Halloween costumes, and a cool, crisp air. It’s basically every teenage girl in their 20s dream — and what better way to welcome in the PSL season than kicking your feet giggling at the best fall romance books?

Fall is also a perfect time for romance readers. I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of anything that screams fall more than curling up in a cafe or a park with a steamy romance novel in hand. (Talk about looking mysterious.) Additionally, the cozy, cool, fall weather is the perfect time to cuddle up in your comfiest blanket, throw on a sweater, and fall in love with a new fictional character — don’t act like you aren’t excited, this is a canon event.

The great thing about romance books is there’s something for every trope: friends-to-lovers, fake dating, slow burn, and, of course, (fan favorite) enemies-to-lovers. Anything you’re craving, I promise a romance book has been written about it.

Now, if you’re really trying to channel your inner Rory Gilmore this autumn, take the time to indulge in these 20 fall romance books.

Go Hex Yourself by Jessica Clare

A magical romcom (literally) that’ll get you in all the fall feels ($10). Grumpy and sunshine trope? Yes, please!

Payback’s A Witch by Lana Harper

A sexy, sapphic, witchy romcom ($11)? The fall gods have granted all my wishes.

Accidentally Amy by Lynn Painter

This book ($14) features a meet-cute over a PSL

Normal People by Sally Rooney

This is the kind of book that you can read once and your outlook on relationships is forever changed ($9). But, if you’re a miscommunication trope hater, brace yourself.

The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston

A little quirky and so heartfelt, this book ($13) features a cozy small-town setting and a girl who falls in love with a ghost.

Deliah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake

A hot lesbian from New York visits home, only to fall in love with her sister’s best friend? Sign me up for this book ($12)!

The Boy with the Bookstore by Sarah Echavarre Smith

Forced proximity makes this baker realize this bookshop owner she thought was her dream man is actually her nemesis. The baked goods aren’t the only thing heating up in this feel-good swoon-worthy novel ($15).

With Love from London by Sarah Jio

This novel ($15) offers a warm sense of escapism, which is the perfect way to channel in all the fall cozy energy.

Love in the Time of Serial Killers by Alicia Thompson

This is the story ($11) of a true crime-obsessed main character looking for love. How much more spooky season could you possibly get?

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

This couple agrees to meet on Nov. 9 every year throughout this troubling but heartfelt love story ($10). It just feels like someone isn’t telling the whole truth — what could it be?

The Bookshop of Second Chances by Jackie Fraser

This novel ($11) encompasses everything about second-chance love in your forties and takes place in an eerie bookshop in Scotland. And the black cat on the cover is just an extra little fall easter egg.

All Rhodes Lead Here by Maria Zapata

This story ($18) is a sentimental small-town mountain romance about two people who ultimately just want to be loved. It’s also a total slow burn, which is one of the most rewarding tropes, IMHO.

Falling Inn Love by Erin Branscom

Reads just like a Hallmark movie, and I can’t think of anything more fall than cozying up on the couch with a fuzzy blanket and reading about a romance author who just wants to experience some romance herself ($16).

Happily Haunted Afters by Brittany Kelley

The cover itself just screams autumn. The novel ($16) follows the idea of going back to your ex which in itself is spookier than a scary movie, can they face both their fears?

The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Spicy and sweet, The Ex Talk ($14) explores an enemies-to-lovers trope on live air. A perfect read to finish in one sitting, curled up with a hot chocolate.

Fall Into Temptation by Lucy Score

Small-town romances are what Lucy Score does best and Fall Into Temptation ($18) doesn’t disappoint. A perfect blend of angst and attraction — incredibly steamy.

A Pumpkin and a Patch by Jennifer Peel

Prepare to get swept away into the coziest fall read ($15). I mean the main character’s family literally owns a pumpkin patch… like this screams autumn.

Before We Were Strangers by Renée Carlino

This book ($13) is all-consuming and will have you craving more. A heart-wrenching, second-chance romance that shows the pain that comes with opening your heart.

In Five Years by Rebecca Serle

A novel ($15) diving into how your life could turn out so different than you wanted, but somehow maybe better? It’s as heartbreaking as it is beautiful.

Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren

The ultimate childhood friends-to-lovers novel ($11). There is no book more heartwarming than this.
