‘Anyone But You’ Isn’t On Streaming Yet, But Might Be Very Soon

There’s a lot of things I like in life, but something I love is going to the movies, especially if I’m seeing a romantic comedy. One of the most recent rom-coms I saw was Anyone But You, starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell. After all the press I saw for that movie, I knew I had to see it. And IMO, it did not disappoint. If you don’t have time to catch Anyone But You in theaters, you should be able to watch it on streaming soon.

While I’ve already seen the movie in theaters, I would love to watch it again on streaming. If you didn’t get the chance to see it in cinemas, no need to worry, because Anyone But You should be on streaming services soon. Here’s everything you need to know about it.

When will Anyone But You Be on streaming?

The film’s distributor is Sony Motion Picture Group, which does not have a streaming service. However, in April 2021, Sony and Netflix signed a deal that bring Sony’s films to Netflix after the movies complete their theatrical and on-demand runs.

TBH, that’s all we really know for now. According to Cosmopolitan, Anyone But You may have “some kind of digital VOD release ahead of a streaming release.” This means that you’ll be able to rent the movie on Amazon Prime, YouTube, Google Play, or Vudu.

What is Anyone But You about?

If you’re not familiar with Anyone But You, allow me to fill you in. This rom-com opens up with an amazing first date between Sweeney’s character Bea and Powell’s character Ben. But, they eventually end up hating each other after the date. They unexpectedly find themselves attending a destination wedding in Australia together and pretend to be a picture-perfect couple to hide the fact that they dislike each other.

The film is loosely based on Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing. According to IMDb, “quotations from the play are embedded in the background as title cards and occasionally integrated into the dialogue.”

To me, the film was a great romantic comedy. I think a big part of that was how Sweeney and Powell promoted the film, which was controversial to some. Given that the movie is a rom-com, the two have to have some sort of chemistry, which seemed to shine through during their press tours.

They filmed a video with Fandango saying ASMR pick-up lines to each other and answered the web’s most searched questions with WIRED.

However, this was all part of Sweeney’s plan to fake their chemistry for publicity, and clearly, it worked. But these two are simply just acting, and dating rumors about them continue to circulate around the internet.

During filming, Powell and his long-time girlfriend, model Gigi Paris, broke up. A source told PEOPLE that “Gigi was never happy with the long distance filming and when she came to Australia [where Powell was filming Anyone But You] they both decided to break up for good.” Of course, this led to many rumors that Powell and Sweeney were a couple, which was not true, especially considering Sweeney has been with her partner Jonathan Davino since 2018.

Sweeney spoke out about the rumors while speaking to Glamour in December 2023. “It was really hard on Glen, which made me sad … because [otherwise] it was such a beautiful experience for the both of us,” she said. “I care for him so much.”

It’s clear that these two are great friends, and were simply just acting in a movie together. I mean, it would’ve been a bad movie if they didn’t have some sort of chemistry, right?

If you need me, you can find me perfecting the grilled cheese Ben makes in the movie, because I haven’t stopped thinking about it.
