Influencing has never been more in — especially, it seems, among college students. According to Her Campus’s 2026 back-to-college survey, 92% of Gen Zers said becoming a content creator is trending for the fall semester. And if you want to get in on the fun (and, perhaps, funds), there’s no better time to start than now.

Across social media platforms, college creators are sharing everyday parts of their life on campus — from effective study strategies and dorm decorating videos to “get ready with me” videos — into entertaining content for millions of viewers. Posting about college life has enabled a lot of students to find other like-minded communities, build a following, earn some income, and even set themselves up for a career after graduation. Take Katie Feeney, for example — she got her start posting on social media while she was at Penn State, and now she’s a creator for ESPN! Truly, getting your start as a creator in college can open so many doors in the future.

But how do you actually get your start? For many, you’ll need to get some supplies first. So, if you’ve always wanted to explore the world of college content creation, or you just want to learn something new to expand on your skills, check out the list below for useful tech products to improve your content creation game this semester.

EUCOS 62″ Phone Tripod & Selfie Stick ($24)

If you’re filming with your phone, both a selfie stick and a tripod are a must. A tripod lets you record static shots such as sit-down chats or routine vlogs. The selfie stick is helpful if you want to move more freely, like when filming vlogs. This particular product has a Bluetooth remote to make recording videos and taking photos even easier.

Mini Mic Pro Lavalier Mic ($25)

Want to know the secret to making your content stand out? A lav mic will give you clear voice quality to film street interviews or sit-down talking videos. Most lav mics also have noise cancellation features, which let you record even in the busiest places. This option from Mini Mic Pro comes with a phone adapter to fit a wide range of tech products, spare wind protectors, and a solid battery life to last through long recording sessions.

Snaptain S5C Elite 1080p Drone ($90)

Whether you’re a travel creator who wants to capture beautiful landscapes or a lifestyle vlogger who wants to make their vids look like a cinematic masterpiece, a drone may be the right tool to add to your cart. Starting small with a Snaptain S5C drone allows you to step into the world of aerial photography without breaking the bank.

. Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III ($880)

After building a solid online presence, one of the best ways to step up your visual game is to upgrade from phone pics to camera photos. The Canon Powershot G7X is a fan-favorite among creators at the moment; it’s super portable and is perfect for capturing moments all around campus, and when you’re done, you can slide it into your pocket without carrying bulky gear!

Sunpak 12″ Bicolor LED Ring Light Kit ($47)

You’ve got a good content idea, but one thing may be missing: a good light. A ring light will instantly make your video pop by brightening your facial features and making the video image less dull. The Sunpack LED Ring Light is a great choice, as it comes with a tripod and mount to make light setup a breeze, as well as a protective case to keep all the parts safe.

Seagate Expansion 4TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive ($190)

An essential tool if you’re going to be capturing a lot of content, an external hard drive lets you store larger files without sending your phone into a meltdown. This is especially a must-have for those who shoot long videos. This hard drive is both Mac- and Windows-compatible, which makes editing from different stations and devices a seamless experience.
