My name is Mikayla Aikens, and I am a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) student with an interest in pediatric care. I became interested in nursing through my academic experiences and exposure to healthcare settings. I also participated in a mentorship program at Augusta Health, where I observed nurses working in departments such as the ICU, PACU, and emergency room.
In addition to my studies, I work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in an assisted living facility. In this role, I provide daily care to residents and assist with their individual needs. This experience has helped me build strong communication skills and gain a better understanding of patient care.
Outside of school and work, I enjoy staying active and doing fitness activities like cycling workouts. I also have a background in soccer, which helped me develop teamwork and leadership skills. In the future, I plan to continue my education and pursue a career as a pediatric nurse.
