Mehra Shojaei is a student at the University of Toronto’s Rotman Commerce program, where she is pursuing a management specialist BCom degree. Originally from Tehran, Iran, Mehra completed high school there before moving to Toronto for university. Growing up in one of the world’s largest cities and then starting a new chapter of her life in Toronto has shaped her curiosity about different cultures, people, and perspectives.
Throughout high school and university, Mehra has explored a variety of professional and academic interests. She has experience in teaching and tutoring, having worked as an English teacher, math tutor, and swimming coach, as well as experience in the business world through internships. At U of T, she has continued exploring her interests in business while also becoming involved in student life and looking for opportunities that push her outside of the traditional business-school bubble. As a writer for Her Campus, she is especially excited to explore topics beyond the classroom and write about the experiences, questions, and conversations that shape university life.
Outside of academics, Mehra loves fashion, beauty, travel, music, pop culture, and discovering new places around Toronto. She is always looking for a new cafe, restaurant, event, or hidden spot to try and loves spending time with friends and meeting new people. She also enjoys learning about completely unrelated topics simply because something sparked her curiosity. Whether she is planning her next trip, finding a new show to binge-watch, or going down an oddly specific internet rabbit hole, there is usually something new she wants to experience or learn about.
Through Her Campus, Mehra hopes to write about everything from student life, relationships, fashion, and beauty to travel, culture, and the realities of figuring out your twenties. Most of all, she wants her writing to feel like a conversation with a friend—the kind that is relatable, curious, and maybe makes you feel a little less alone in whatever you’re figuring out.
