Makenzie McClam

Makenzie McClam is a Mass Communications student with a concentration in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Business Marketing at Norfolk State University. She is a proud Chapter Writer for Her Campus NSU with a passion for storytelling, service, and amplifying voices that are often overlooked. Through her studies and campus involvement, Makenzie continues to strengthen her skills as a journalist while using her voice to inform, connect, and represent the Norfolk State community.

At Norfolk State, Makenzie serves as a news writer and editor for The Spartan Echo, Head Reporter for HOT Press on WNSB HOT 91.1, and host of 757 & Park. She is also Secretary of the Norfolk State University chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists and Vice President of Pretty Girls Who Serve. Through these positions, Makenzie has gained experience in reporting, interviewing, editing, broadcasting, leadership, and community engagement. Her involvement has allowed her to share meaningful stories, contribute to important campus conversations, and encourage other students to become involved in their community.

She aspires to build a career in political journalism and strategic communications, using media to explain important issues and represent communities authentically. Through Her Campus, Makenzie hopes to create relatable stories about college life, culture, personal growth, and the experiences that help young women feel seen, understood, and empowered.
