Vu Thuy Anh Nguyen is a girl from Vietnam whose curiosity led her way to continue her school life in the US since 15. With a strong foundation of Math and experience as a young entrepreneur, she challenged herself in multiple competitions during her high school years, such as DECA, AYA, and FBLA. Later on found out her passion for numbers and problem solving, she is eager to succeed in this field and pursue Finance major at Universiy of Illinois, Chicago.
Beyond the academic environment, Anh actively engages in community service. As a foreigner coming from a faraway land, she has always longed to make an impact on the community where she lives to build a sense of belonging. She dedicated significant time to volunteering at local church, events. She volunteered as a tutor for kids from the elementary levels. Her support for people in the LGBT community was marked by her opportunity to volunteer as security at 2023 Arizona PRIDE parade. In a traditional family where she was taught to always up lift people around her, to see the best side of things. She is driven to advocate for self-love and self-worth.
Outside of academics and service, Anh is a girl who adores cute accessories - whether it’s earrings, necklaces, or hair clips - these little pieces bring her a sense of identity. Some people believe that the objects we use everyday reveal a little about you, and she wholeheartedly agree. She owned handmade trendy accessories on Instagram. She took on the role of consultant, managing orders, sourcing materials, and sometimes even getting my hands messy making the accessories. Even though her initial rings weren’t perfect, the way her peers embraced them felt like a giant milestone. Each new product was developed with love, nurtured by our customers’ feedback, and fueled by her desire to make our customers happy. Her social media accounts were flooded with unread messages for orders and feedback, a signal that her hardworks was paid off. Although she stopped this business, whenever she glances at the beads on my rings, each one tells a story of the effort she poured it, the love she received from those around her. The lesson I hold dear: every wonderful memory begins with the smallest things - like these beaded rings - and it’s the imperfections that make the journey truly beautiful. Therefore, all the flaws, weakness of a person make them, THEM. No one should tell your worth as you are a master piece that was defined with your accomplishments and imperfections. You are valuable in your own way.
