Why Lavender Should be the New Millenial Pink

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

Millennial Pink has had our generation in a chokehold since 2016, and rightly so. Looking back, it almost feels like a final gift from the Pantone gods before chaos took over for the next 5 years. But now with the calamities of 2020 nearing finally taking a back seat, I believe it’s time for a new color to take the reins, and I believe it should be lavender.

First off, millennial pink and lavender are both pastel colors and are analogous on the color wheel. This would make it an easy reach to pass down the torch compared to, say, a bright neon color. Since they are both pastel colors, they exude an air of peace and calm, something that is much needed these days. While pink symbolizes healing and sensitivity and has definitely come through with that these past couple of years, purple represents royalty, prosperity, and vision. It’s 2022 and it feels like we are finally seeing the light at the end of a very dark and twisted tunnel. Although there is still much healing to be done, we must also move forward with a new outlook and appreciation for life. One that is kinder and promising for all.’

I’ve also just been obsessed with it since last year and I think it’s great!
