Most of my Spotify playlists are lengthy and a song just needs to be catchy to make it onto one. Laying in bed one night – the time that I use to make oddly specific playlists – I started a one for songs that are timeless in my opinion. Songs that I never get tired of. Songs that make me smile uncontrollably and feel butterflies in my stomach. This playlist is only 39 minutes, that’s how good a song has to be to make the cut. Here is that short and picky playlist:

  1. Beige – Yoke Lore

For when you want to feel something almost sad, but in a happy way.

  1. The Wave – Colouring

This song is relaxing and perfect for so many occasions. Sitting by the lake at sunset? Yes. Bedtime? Yes. Evening date with someone you really, REALLY, like? Yes. It gives major Coldplay vibes if you’re into that.

  1. Seeds – Yoke Lore

If you couldn’t tell, I love Yoke Lore. I bought last minute tickets to their concert with no one to go with, I love them that much. This song is another for if you want to feel the sad kind of happiness.

  1. Mind Over Matter – Young the Giant

A song about wanting someone to stick by you when times get rough. It has a very screamable chorus.

  1. Cherry Wine – Hozier

I imagine this song playing while I pick tulips in my future garden to put in the kitchen window.

  1. Feels Like – Gracie Abrams

This is my song of the year. There’s not a single thing wrong with it. Gracie Abrams is on tour with Olivia Rodrigo right now and I can see her being a big name in the music industry soon.

  1. Two Ghosts – Harry Styles

Anyone who knows me, knows how much of a die-hard Harry fan I am. Although it’s impossible for me to pick a favorite song from him, this one is so genius in the lyric department. “Moon dances over your good side” gets me every time.

  1. Iris – The Goo Goo Dolls

I am so jealous of couples posting instagram stories with this song in the background.

  1. Vienna – Billy Joel

Billy Joel is my dad’s favorite artist, so he probably introduced me to this song. This song makes me stop and take a deep breath.

This is of course an ongoing playlist, but for a song to be added to it something has to go off in my brain. I encourage everyone to make a short comfort playlist like mine to listen to when you need life to slow down for a minute.
