You may have heard Gunna’s new song, Pushin P from his latest album, “DS4Ever.” It became pretty popular, pretty quickly.
While it may have a catchy beat and that indistinguishable Gunna flair, it’s mostly been getting attention for the new term, “P” (aka 🅿️), which has the internet collectively stumped. Here are some examples of how Gunna uses it in the song:
“She not a lesbian, for P, she turn Pesbian (pushin’ P, I’m pushin’ P)”
“Private suite, private seat, b****, I’m pushin’ P”
“She let me squeeze then she leave ’cause she keep it P”
Great. Get it? Me either. What is 🅿️?
Well according to Gunna, 🅿️ technically stands for “player,” but it doesn’t have to. Something either is 🅿️ or isn’t… still confused? The way I think about it is how we used to say “swag.” For example, “that’s swag,” or “he has swagger.” You can say, “These new jeans? 🅿️. This iced coffee? 🅿️. The weather lately? Not 🅿️.” You can also simply put 🅿️ in front of a word to make it cooler.
He explained it in his interview with The Breakfast Club morning show on iHeartRadio:
Basically, 🅿️ is what you make of it! Everyone from Kim Kardashian to IHOP’s social media manager has taken to it.
So whether you get it or not, Gunna and I encourage you to bring 🅿️ into your vocabulary, because who doesn’t love a good inconspicuous slang term? Simply put the 🅿️ emoji in front of every word you type, or if you’re having a good day, let the world know that you’re pushin’ 🅿️. It’ll make you seem cool and mysterious… even if the meaning of 🅿️ itself is still a bit of a mystery.
