It’s hard to believe we’re six weeks into the semester, but fall break is already here. If you’re not feeling recharged, consider trying a few of these wellness activities for our days off.

  1. Meditate. It’s a great idea to incorporate this into every day, but if you feel short on time, a day off is the perfect opportunity to take even just five minutes to sit and be present in the moment. There are plenty of different ways to meditate but getting a free app and doing a guided meditation is probably the easiest.
  2. Get outside. The weather was beautiful these past few days, and it’ll likely be a little cooler soon. Even if you have things to do, try to do them outside. It’s an instant mood booster and feels less like work!
  3. Have brunch or a picnic. You can take a break from the dining halls, or just try something you wouldn’t usually get. This is a great opportunity to hang out with friends as well!
  4. Call someone you love. Talking to people you love is the best way to feel more refreshed. You can even do this while you’re on a walk or eating if you feel like you don’t have the time. It’s guaranteed to make you feel better!
  5. Plan out your next few days. If you find it difficult to truly take a day off when school resumes so soon, try writing out everything you’re going to do for the rest of the week. There’s no pressure to do anything during break, but at least you have a plan so it won’t be on your mind as much!
  6. Try to incorporate a bit of wellness into each day. There are still many long weeks until our next break, and most of these activities aren’t a huge time commitment. Even if you feel like they might not be worth it when you have classes to study for, recharging is the best way to stay motivated. Taking an hour off to do something for yourself can help you be even more productive in the long run!
