How did you get involved with Her Campus?:

I got involved with Her Campus after seeking writing opportunities available at our school. When I found Her Campus I knew that I wanted to be part of the team and create compelling stories for my campus community to read and enjoy. I love to write and Her Campus allows me to express my voice and reach a larger audience than my usual works. I am excited to be on this journey and writing blogs that overall make a difference while engaging in a fun activity!

A Killer Workout Playlist for this Spooky Season

Halloween is creeping around the corner! Before digging into those calorie-filled bowls of Skittles, Snickers, and Twix, it is important to keep up with physical activity not only for maintaining a healthy physique but also a clear mind. Feeling good about your body and your mind will help motivate you to pick your best costume yet this year! The month of October brings awareness to mental illness. With physical activity, it has been proven that adding exercise in your life can overall help maintain a healthier lifestyle while also lessening mental illnesses symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. Concentrating on the physiological and psychological rewards of working out, exercise helps the improvement of mental health, deeming the two to have a positive correlation. It is crucial to eradicating the stigmas associated with mental health and to diminishing society’s discrimination towards suffering individuals. Although each individual’s experience with mental illness is unique, exercise is a critical way to improve the quality of life. Music also obtains a positive correlation with mental health and working out. An upbeat music playlist can surely motivate you to work harder, elevating your mood and leaving you feeling good after the exercise. Listening to music concurrent to working out will encourage a better workout as it distracts you from the physical pain from a workout while also distracting you from negative thoughts. Overall, listening to music is a necessity in reducing mental illness symptoms and is essential to any workout!
