Looking for something a little more casual (but still sit-down dining)? Check out Katie’s, Taco Buddah or Bar Italia. Katie’s has a quaint outdoor dining option with a variety of pizzas, pastas, and of course, burrata. Taco Buddha is a super fun spot with farm-style tables and some of the best tacos you’ll have in St. Louis. You’ll find Bar Italia in the Central West end with great outdoor seating that overlooks the quaint streets there. The food is on-par with the romantic Italian ambience.
Maybe you prefer something a little fancier — Olio, J. Devotti Trattoria, and Akar are great fits. These restaurants will be pricier, but the ambience and food are incredible. Olio serves refreshing Mediterranean dishes in a romantic outdoor setting or the quaint indoors of their renovated gas-station space. J. Devotti Trattoria has hand-tossed pizza and hand-made pastas with a menu that changes daily. Finally, Akar serves what some might call Asian-fusion dishes, but in my opinion, they go way beyond this category. Every item on the menu has a beautiful blend of Asian spices with other innovative flavors.
Activities
Zoo – The zoo is always a fun outing, with carnival-style food like pretzels & dipndots, great photo-ops, and gorgeous walks throughout the grounds. Oh, and it’s completely free.
SLAM – The St. Louis Art Museum is definitely more of an acquired taste, but for those who love all things culture, this is the perfect choice! The museum is free except for traveling exhibitions that showcase anything from Rembrandt to contemporary portraiture.
Botanical gardens – On a beautiful, sunny day or even during the dead of winter, the botanical gardens offers an unmatched, whimsical outdoor experience. Whether you’re there when the flowers bloom and the lily pads lay on the pond or for the garden glow with a light show and holiday tunes, the botanical gardens will not disappoint.
Cherokee Street – Cherokee street is a great spot for anyone who loves shopping. This thriving area is home to vintage stores, thrift shops, restaurants, record shops, and antique stores — you name it, they’ve got it.
