5 Makeup Products Under $5 That Are My Holy Grails

The Her Campus National Editors write about products we love and think you’ll love too. Her Campus has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase. All products are in stock and all prices are accurate as of publication.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lafayette chapter.

One of my favorite hobbies is finding the best of the best beauty products for a low price. It shouldn’t cost a fortune to beat my face, and it shouldn’t cost a fortune for you, either. I have already written about the best products under $15, but now I am letting you in on the best for under $5. Oh, and they’re all cruelty-free, which is the best part.

  1. Essence Volume Booster Lash Primer

I would like to extend a special thank you to the manager at my local Ulta for putting me on to this absolutely amazing lash primer. I never believed in lash primers until now, and let me tell you, for just $4.99 you won’t find a product that will beat it. Make sure to apply this and then quickly apply your mascara afterward so the primer doesn’t dry down. Your lashes will have more volume than you thought possible.

  1. Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara

I bet you have seen this mascara before, whether it be on TikTok or Instagram, and it’s worth all. The. Hype. Because mascaras are a product that you are supposed to replace frequently, it’s important to not drop too much coin on one. Ditch the falsies and get your hands on this magic in a bottle for just $4.99. Also—this mascara plus the lash primer? An unbeatable duo to prevent flaking and smudging. You’re welcome.

  1. Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara

No one would know I am someone who has not been blessed in the eyebrow department when I wear this stuff on my face. The product is not just a colored gel but has fibers in it to literally add more hair onto your brows. It also sets your brows without the crunchy hairspray effect, ringing up at only $2.99.

  1. Essence Lash & Brow Gel Mascara

For the days I decide to ~embrace~ my natural brows, this product is my go-to for quickly setting them in place. I love the natural finish, again, minus the notorious hairspray brows. For only $2.99, I don’t know what you’re waiting for.

  1. Essence Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder

A nice tan is something desirable, at least to me, and this pigmented bronzer gets the job done without having to sit in the sun for too long. (This is a friendly reminder to always wear SPF!). This product never looks muddy on the face and blends like a dream. A little goes a long way. Something I like to do is sweep some of it into my crease as a natural eyeshadow, too.

Enjoy your new affordable finds!
