Eight…Seven…Six…Five…

Are we at one yet?

During the exercises I strive to get to the last rep; I strive to end the burning sensation in my butt, arms, thighs, and abs; and I strive to enter the cool down stage. But despite all of these aspirations for the class to be over, I want to book my next appointment. The shape class is addicting.

The upbeat music, the fast pace exercises, and the lively atmosphere all contribute to the class’s attractiveness. To top it all off, the instructors are extremely helpful and inspirational. Instructors, such as Jennifer and Toussaint not only have THE dancer’s shape, they are extremely knowledgeable. Most importantly, they know how to tailor the class to me. For example, having lower back pain makes several exercises difficult to complete; however, both instructors will help minimize this pain by providing me guidance and support. Instead of using a ball for several ab sets, I use the AbMat. The instructors’ assistance truly makes the class more enjoyable. They want you to feel comfortable when exercising.

I may be tired and sore (and sweaty) during the exercises, but I love knowing that I’m becoming stronger and toner – essentially, I love knowing that I’m achieving a healthier body. The continuous countdown of reps is a reminder of the progress I will make towards this new lifestyle. This class is absolutely physically and mentally rewarding.

I am thrilled to continue this class for three weeks. I can’t wait to see my body get toner, my flexibility improve, and my strength increase. As I continue to blog about my experiences, I will be sure to let you know if I can achieve a dancer’s shape!
