Unless you have lived under a rock for the past decade, it is impossible not to notice America’s obsession with reality television. If you’re anything like us, you indulge in your favorite reality TV shows several times a week. Jersey Shore, My Strange Addiction, and Here Comes Honey BooBoo are all favorites of the average Emory Collegiette. With all of these guilty pleasures to satisfy, rest assured you’ll never run out of reality TV shows to watch.
The Real Housewives series is always a great show to dive into. With multiple cities represented from Beverly Hills, to New Jersey, New York City, Miami, Orange County, and even our own Atlanta, you’ll never tire of this series. Whether the ladies are fighting (which is usually happening regardless of whatever else is going on) or going on exotic vacations, the show’s epic drama never disappoints. Be on the lookout for recognizable Atlanta sites on episodes of the Real Housewives of Atlanta — you never know when you might run into the formidable NeNe Leakes herself!
If you’re in the mood for some pure entertainment, Jersey Shore is the show to watch. Gather a group of your friends and enjoy in your dorm or common room. (You can even get a drinking game going…) This show will not disappoint! From the daily antics of Snookie and JWoww to the wild rampages they stage as a group, watching this clan of self-proclaimed Italian meatballs is a great way to de-stress after a long day of class and studying!
If those shows aren’t suiting your mood there are the more extreme, but no less entertaining, Here Comes Honey BooBoo and My Strange Addiction. Here Comes Honey BooBoo exhibits the daily life of one of the strangest stars of Toddlers in Tiaras (another TLC gem). Her nickname is Honey BooBoo – though her real name is Ilana – and she and her crazy family shine in this real-life you-can’t-make-this-up sitcom. The show is also based in Georgia, but is quite different from the Real Housewives series that takes place here, too. In the first episode the entire family goes to the “Redneck Olympics,” which, by the way, really does exist. There, they partake in activities like mud wrestling. It makes for wonderfully entertaining TV.
If you’re ever feeling down upon your own odd quirks, a great show to watch is My Strange Addiction. Just a few minutes of the episode about the man who is addicted to eating couch cushions will make you feel much better about any weird habits you may have yourself.
No matter what you watch, almost any reality TV show is pure entertainment. We fully recommend them as a great way to relax after class and take a break from your own stressful reality! Happy watching!
