One thing most women can agree on is that Mondays are rarely enjoyable, especially after a particularly exciting weekend. Who gets excited about going to class after two days of relaxing and doing whatever we please at our own pace? I know I sure don’t! However, there are three small ways of making of your dreaded Monday much less painful—and it’s easy for every collegiette.
1. Have Your Favorite Breakfast
Starting off the morning on a positive note is a great start for a successful day. So instead of grabbing a granola bar on the way out the door to that 9 a.m class, take some time to eat something you’ll enjoy. There are many delicious breakfasts that only take three minutes to make, and the end result is so worth it. Whip up your favorite style of eggs, throw some bread in the toaster, or microwave some tasty turkey bacon. No full kitchen? Grab your favorite yogurt and sprinkle granola on it or heat up some oatmeal and add some banana slices. Beginning your day with something you enjoy can give a Monday that extra jump-start it always needs.
2. Make Evening Plans
Give yourself something to look forward to after that long day of class! Make plans with a friend, whether it is going to the gym (see what fun workout classes are being offered at the AFC that day!) or dinner plans on campus, having something to look forward to at the end of the day is great motivation to survive all of those classes. It is also a much-needed break to unwind in between sitting in classrooms and doing homework for hours.
3. Study Your Favorite Way
This might not sound remotely enjoyable to you, but everyone has a way of studying that they prefer. Take the time to make sure that Mondays are the days you accomplish studying in the style that works best for you. If you enjoy sitting at Starbucks with a latte and headphones while you read, do that. If you work better in a group, invite your friends over for a study session, especially if you have mutual classes. If it’s your thing, make your notes five different colors or use neon index cards to prepare for that impending midterm. Also, allow yourself a study break or two. Watch an episode of your favorite show on Netflix (guilty) or get a coffee refill. You and your brain both deserve a break after working hard!
Although Mondays are never really going to be enjoyable, these tips can help make them seem less painful. Starting off a long week in a positive way can really set the stage for having a great week and it’ll really be Friday again before you know it!
