Get Your Fashion Fix with These Gorgeous Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at London Met chapter.

It’s a brand new year, and London Met is launching its page for Her Campus. I thought we should kick it off in style with some new spring 2014 fashpiration. It’s not spring just yet, but the thought of working these trends gives me a warm feeling — and with all of the rain here in England, we need a warm feeling!

Flower Power

Bold is better this season, so get your power prints ready. Play it tough with structured florals and leather textures, or be flirty and match your power prints with statement white, wide-length trousers. Don’t be afraid to play it dangerously and mix different prints in one outfit — think florals and stripes (yep, seriously!).

Pretty Little Thing has some seriously trendy, and purse friendly, pieces right now!

Fresh Faced

As far as makeup goes this season, minimalism is huge. Think soft hues for lips — Lip Tar from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics comes in a range of gorgeous colours. Make sure to apply with a detailer brush for more definition. Fresh, flawless skin is a must for spring, so use a tinted moisturiser. I love Bobbie Brown BB Cream SPF35. For eyes, you can choose your effect with cool white lids or dramatic blue tones.

Perfect Pastels

It’s in your hair, it’s on your face, and it’s on your body this season — pastels are everywhere! From washout pastel hair colours to the much-coveted pink coat, these gorgeous colours should be in everyone’s wardrobes. I love to contrast anything pretty with something more edgy, so go for a cute pastel skort and a biker jacket or cropped trousers with studded flats. A flash of pastel will make any outfit pop.

Sport Luxe

Good news: you don’t have to actually do any sport to pull off this look (phew!). Even more great news: trips to the gym just got a lot more chic. Hit a homerun with sporty bomber jackets, crop tops, track pants and cute shorts

I'm a first year student studying Journalism, Film and Television at London Metropolitan University. When I'm not updating my blog or writing for my university's magazine, I like to workout, read girly fiction and go to the theatre. Make-up tutorials and trashy reality TV shows are my guilty pleasures! I'm a girl who loves shopping trips and outfit co-ordination but there's nothing better than pizza night with a scary film and good company! Find me on twitter: @Rosie_Quigley
