8 Things Going Through Your Mind During A Fitness Class

Let’s face it – going to the gym is not everyone’s favorite thing to do. It takes some pep talks and personal butt kicking to get yourself to not only go, but to try out a new workout class, too. You forsee the blood, the tears and of course, the sweat of a hard workout. At the time it might feel like torture, but we’re all doing it for the long-term results that come from regular exercise.  

Here are eight things that go through a girl’s head while completing a hardcore fitness class:

1. At the beginning you’re kind of like SpongeBob. You have the whole, “I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready,” pumping adrenaline through your veins as you’re about to get your butt kicked in either Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, TRX or any other class you choose to take.

2. And about five minutes into the workout, you begin to question why you ever left your incredibly comfortable bed and beautiful computer screen filled with Netflix to come sweat like a pig for an hour. We totally get ya, girl.

3. Many times during the class, you might think to yourself, “How does she get her body to bend like that or nope, I don’t think I’m meant to do that.” For example this may happen as your Pilates instructor gets up into a headstand or as your zumba instructor does one insane body role. All you can think about during these times is how big of an idiot you must look like and pray that no one has a camera nearby.

4. Finally comes the halfway point. You can see the light at the end of the tunnel. You’re almost there; only 30 minutes more and you’re home free. Come on, buddy. You can do it!

5. While you may have just hit the halfway point, you often find yourself asking, “Is this ever going to end?” An endless hour of sweat, cardio or muscle strengthening can seem like Dante’s nine circles of hell when planking for a few minutes straight. You feel like:

6. You keep telling yourself, “I need to be ready for bikini season.” Because as soon as you know it, it’ll be June and it’ll be time to slip on one of those itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot things and head to the beach. Warm weather is just months away…

7. “I can do this!” you tell yourself. There’s a sudden rush of energy that you experience as endorphins are released into the body. At this point, you’re pumped up and basically feeling on top of the world. It’s the last couple minutes of the class so you push through, giving it your all. Get jazzy with it!

8. The class is over, you’re drenched in sweat, and though you may be happy to be finished, you’re proud of yourself. You struggle to breath as you think,“I’m free! It’s over, it’s over!” Now why not reward yourself with a cookie or some delicious ice cream? Go ahead. You deserve it, girl!
