Entertainment10: Beyoncé, Iggy Azalea & Snoop Dogg

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Entertainment10 is back like it never left.  This week was packed with celebrity news, speculated relationships were confirmed, speculated relationships got even more confusing, social media beefs were taken to a whole new level, and that’s just three stories in this weeks E10! Sit back, relax and read away.

1. Beyoncé’s not so flawless bangs. This week, it appeared Beyoncé did a little bit more than wake up like this. The “Flawless singer actually seemed to have woken up to some new bangs that are a style of their own. The bangs, which she first sported in Paris while on her European family vacay are extremely short, and  barely cover her forehead at all. Instead, the bangs lay inches, literally inches, from her eyebrows. The new do has inspired loads of criticism and backlash; both fans and non-fans alike even took to Twitter to discuss — well, bash — Bey’s new look.

2. Iggy Azalea, Snoop Dogg and Nick Young have social media beef? What sounds like not the only most outrageous scenario, but also the most random, was actually days of online visual and verbal lashings. The feud began when Snoop compared the “Fancy” singer to an albino woman with cornrows. He continued the cyber-bullying by posting more less-than-flattering comparisons and inappropriate memes about the singer.  Azalea responded to Snoop’s online attacks by writing on Twitter, “@snoopdogg why would you post such a mean pic on insta when you send your body guards to ask me for pictures every time we are at shows together?” she wrote.  Azalea also posted a picture of Snoop titled, “When your drug addict aunt gets clean.”

Snoop obviously didn’t like Azalea’s attempt to defend herself because he continued to insult Azalea on social media. One insult that got the web’s attention was his comparison of Azalea to Marlon Wayans’ character in White Chicks. Before things escalated any further, Snoop made an apology video on Instagram and said, “I just got off the phone with my homeboy Tip (rapper T.I.), the king of Atlanta, and it’s officially over,” he said in the video, “No more bad talk. I apologize. Yeah, I apologize. I’m sorry. I won’t do it again.” The Australian singer then replied on Twitter, “I appreciate the apology @snoopdogg,” ending the beef.

3. Ariana Grande confirms Big Sean relationship.  During an interview with The Telegraph, the “Love me Harder” singer confirmed her relationship with Big Sean by simply saying, “yes.” Grande went on to gush about her new beau saying, “He is one of the most amazing men in the whole world, and that includes my grandfather and my brother. I think the world of him, and he’s an amazing person. That’s kind of all there is to it.” Later in the week, the Detroit rapper responded to the singer’s kind words saying, “She’s amazing, too… She’s great, man. We just enjoy each other. We’re happy; everything’s good.”

4. Amy Poehler breaks silence about divorce. If you’re still reeling from news of Poehler and Will Arnett’s divorce, as I am, then her new memoir won’t make the recovery any easy. In Poehler’s memoir, Yes Please, set to be released Oct. 28, the SNL star speaks on what life has been like since she and Arnett announced they were headed for splits-ville in 2012. “When you are a person going through a divorce, you feel incredibly alone, yet you are constantly reminded by society of how frequently divorce happens and how common it has become,” she wrote. “You aren’t allowed to feel special, but no one knows the specific ways you are in pain.”

The comedian added, “Imagine spreading everything you care about on a blanket and then tossing the whole thing up in the air. The process of divorce is about loading that blanket, throwing it up, watching it all spin, and worrying what stuff will break when it lands.” But before you get too emotional and start thinking the memoir’s subject is solely about her divorce, in true Amy Poehler fashion, she wrote “[Divorce is] too sad and too personal… I also don’t like people knowing my sh*t.” Poehler is currently dating actor Nick Kroll.

5. Shia LaBeouf tells the full story of his arrest at a Broadway play. In June, LaBeouf was arrested for “refusing to leave a theatrical performance when asked, for creating unreasonable noise and using obscene language outside of Studio 54, and for spitting at a police officer at the Midtown North police precinct.” Although the assistant district attorney’s explanation of LaBeouf’s arrest seems very serious, the Transformers star was somehow able to turn it into a hilarious tale as he recounted the night of his arrest on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The actor said the arrest all began when watching the World Cup.

“You drink a lot of whiskey during the World Cup, it seems,” the actor said. He then discussed how his night unfolded as he continued to binge drink and ended up at the location of his arrest, a Broadway production called Cabaret. The star ended his recollection by joking that he was going “to stay away from Broadway for a little bit.” The star is laughing now, but LaBeouf is still receiving alcohol abuse treatment until November after pleading guilty to one count of disorderly conduct.

6. An update on Amanda Bynes. Last week marked the 15th anniversary of The Amanda Show, but instead of celebrating, Bynes was half a week into her extended psychiatric hold. The once Nickelodeon star entered a Los Angeles treatment facility following weeks of new erratic behavior. TMZ reports Bynes is headed for another conservatorship. In August 2013, Bynes’ mother Lynn, was granted a temporary conservatorship following a 30-day psychiatric hold.

7. Joan Rivers’ cause of death has been revealed. The New York City medical examiner’s investigation ruled the star’s cause of death was “anoxic encephalopathy due to hypoxic arrest.” In layman’s terms, Rivers died due to brain damage caused by lack of Oxygen. Additionally, in the report it stated her cause of death was one brought on by “therapeutic complications,” which means “the death resulted from a predictable complication of medical therapy.” Rivers died Sept. 4 after an appointment at Manhattan’s Yorkville Endoscopy during a procedure to evaluate her “voice changes” and stomach reflux.

8. Kesha sues producer Dr. Luke for emotional abuse and sexual assault. The pop singer claims producer Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, also known as Dr. Luke, violently abused her and forced her to take drugs and consume alcohol. Kesha’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, said in a statement, “This lawsuit is a wholehearted effort by Kesha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom after suffering for ten years as a victim of mental manipulation, emotional abuse and sexual assault at the hands of Dr. Luke. The facts presented in our lawsuit paint a picture of a man who is controlling and willing to commit horrible acts of abuse in an attempt to intimidate an impressionable, talented, young female artist into submission for his personal gain. Kesha is focused on moving her life and her career beyond this terrible time.” Dr. Luke’s attorney, Christine Lepera, has since come out with a statement saying, “Kesha’s lawsuit is a spectacular and outrageous fiction that will go down in flames. As the truth emerges, this sad and misguided smear campaign will only hurt Kesha.” As if tit for tat, Dr. Luke also filed a lawsuit alleging Kesha engaged in defamation and breach of contract.

9. Kevin Hart gets a bus driver her job back after she was suspended for taking a photo with the comedian. Now, I don’t know what would be more surprising — seeing Hart walking along the street or seeing my bus driver hop off the bus to take a picture with him… Before you answer that question too quickly though, note that choosing “all of the above” as a possible scenario is an option. A Los Angeles bus driver left her passengers on board to take a photo with the comedian. The bus driver’s photo somehow got back to her employer, and she was placed on an indefinite suspension. That is until Hart got word of the driver’s troubles. He made a video asking for the woman to get her job back, and Douglas was reinstated as an employee of National Rental Car following the video’s release.

10. Is it bye-bye Kylie Jenner, and hello Blac Chyna, already? After last week’s reports of 17-year-old Jenner and 24-year-old Tyga dating, rumors are now circulating about Tyga and his ex-girlfriend Chyna rekindling their relationship. Rumors began after Chyna posted an Instagram picture of Tyga kissing her cheek/neck area. Tyga’s ex captioned the photo, “by the way he said I’m not missin no meals,” before quickly deleting it. However, Tyga and Jenner were spotted together just days before the post. Tyga also posted a video of him sitting with Chyna and their son, singing “Happy Birthday” as they celebrated. Chyna also posted a picture of the threesome to Instagram, captioning it “My Family.” Am I the only one who is slightly confused, or is this just the way relationships are handled in Hollywood?
