Entertainment10: Amanda Bynes, Stephen Collins & Kylie Jenner

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

Entertainment10 is back for another week of celebrity news, and this week was full of it. From new couples and divorce updates to controversial comments and, of course, Twitter drama, this week didn’t disappoint in the celebrity news department.

1. After weeks of strange behavior, actress Amanda Bynes has been hospitalized. TMZ reports that Bynes has been placed on a involuntary psychiatric hold after a series of troublesome behavior exhibited by Bynes. Earlier in the week, the troubled star was accused of allegedly trying to steal merchandise from a New York City store. And on Friday, Bynes went on a Twitter rant accusing her father of being sexually, verbally and physically abusive to her when she was a child. She has since deleted the tweets, and she additionally tweeted a recant of her previous statements saying, “My dad never did any of those things The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he’s the one that ordered them to microchip me.” The once Nickelodeon star’s mother, Lynn Bynes, issued a statement to People magazine through her lawyer, Tamar Arminak, refuting the initial statements made by her daughter. “These allegations stem from Amanda’s mental state at the moment. They have no basis in reality. It saddens me beyond belief that my husband’s character could be slandered in such a way.”

2. 7th Heaven star accused of child molestation. Stephen Collins, actor of the hit show, allegedly confessed to molesting young girls in an audiotape made public. TMZ obtained the audio recording discussing three instances of child molestation made by Collins’ estranged wife and actress Fay Grant. On the tape that was secretly recorded during a therapy session by Grant, you can hear Collins admit to exposing himself to underage girls. While it was first assumed that the tape was leaked by Grant, she told E! News: “I woke up today to learn that an extremely private recording I handed over to the authorities in 2012 per their request in connection with a criminal investigation was recently disseminated to the press. I had no involvement whatsoever with the release of the tape to the media.” Collins has since resigned from his position on the National Board of the Screen Actors Guild, his role on the upcoming Ted 2 has been cut, and his scenes in an upcoming episode of Scandal have been removed. The New York Police Department is also investigating Collins for the alleged crimes.

3. Angelina Jolie named honorary damehood by Queen Elizabeth.  If the word damehood has you scratching your head, let me inform you that it basically means Angelina Jolie is even more of a big deal now than she was before she became an honorary Dame. The honor, which took place at Buckingham Palace, is one that few foreigners to the U.K. are given, but because of her ongoing campaign to end sexual violence in war zones, it was bestowed upon the actress.  However, before you go calling her Dame Angelina Jolie, you must know that because Jolie is an American and not a Brit, she cannot be addressed as such. With the title of Honorary Dame Grand Cross, the honor is the female equivalent of knighthood, making Jolie somewhat royalty, in an American sort of way. The Oscar award winning actress’ husband, Brad Pitt, and their six kids also got to meet the queen after the presentation of the award’s insignia to Jolie.

4. Possible new couple alert: Kylie Jenner and Tyga?! Yes, you read that right; 17-year-old Kylie Jenner and 24-year-old Tyga have been seen throughout L.A. dining with one another. If you’re asking what happened to Jaden Smith, who Jenner was suspected of dating for years now, that seems to be a thing of the past. Tyga posted a photo on Instagram of his new rumored flame, captioning it, “Surround yourself with good people. Good hearts, Good souls #LastKings.” The photo, which centers and focuses on Kylie and also captures Tyga and rapper Big Sean, was posted the same day the two had a private dinner in Encino, California. If the fact that Jenner is underage doesn’t make the possible coupling of these two awkward enough, Tyga’s past relationship definitely will. You may remember that Tyga’s ex, Blac Chyna, with whom he has a child, is also friends with Jenner’s sister, Kim Kardashian West. Not only is Blac Chyna seen in a few photos on Kim K’s Instagram, but she was also seen in the reality star’s show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Chyna even attended Kimye’s wedding! Can you say awkward?

5. Celebrity baby news is always good news. This week, Gossip Girl alum Blake Lively announced that she’s pregnant, and it wasn’t through a text that ended in “XOXO Gossip Girl.” Instead, Lively, along with hunky husband, Ryan Reynolds, announced their baby news on her new lifestyle and apparel website Preserve. In more baby news, Girls Gone Wild creator, Joe Francis, and girlfriend, Abbey Wilson, welcomed twin girls. And to round out the baby news of the week, the name of Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes’ baby girl was finally released. The two named their daughter Esmeralda Amanda Gosling, a name seemingly fit for a princess. What else would you expect from some of the world’s most beautiful parents?

6. Kelly Rowland bares it all for ELLE magazine by showing off her growing baby bump. One third of Destiny’s Child is expecting her first child with her husband, Tim Witherspoon. In the magazine, Rowland revealed her excitement in becoming a new mom by saying, “I just have a couple more weeks. I’m excited to bring a child into the world, and sharing that experience with my husband is probably the most beautiful part.” The “Motivation” singer also spoke to the magazine about how pregnant women get flack for nude photos. “I don’t know why they would get flack. It’s really—I won’t say amazing—it’sGodmazing [laughs] watching your body carry a human. I took a birthing class and I was amazed by all the things this woman was saying to me about birthing and what the body does naturally. Why wouldn’t you want to celebrate that?” If you haven’t seen the beautiful photos of Rowland, be sure to check them out here!

7. Raven-Symoné sits down with Oprah Winfrey and faces backlash after controversial comments. The That’s So Raven and Cosby Show actress sat on the couch with Winfrey for OWN’s Where Are They Now? and explained how she was done “being labeled” in terms of her race and sexuality. “I’m tired of being labeled. I’m an American,” she said. “I’m not an African-American. I’m an American.” As if to predict the media firestorm to ensue, Winfrey stated “Oh girl. Don’t set up Twitter on fire… Oh, my lord. What did you just say?”  Symoné did not heed the warning and replied, “I mean, I don’t know where my roots go to. I don’t know how far back they go… I don’t know what country in Africa I’m from, but I do know that my roots are in Louisiana. I’m an American. And that’s a colorless person.” As Ms. O predicted, many had a lot to say about Symoné’s comments, of which she has since replied by saying, “I never said I wasn’t black,” to E! News in a statement. “I want to make that very clear. I said, ‘I am not African American.’ I never expected my personal beliefs and comments to spark such emotion in people. I think it is only positive when we can openly discuss race and being labeled in America.” In the same “O” interview, Symoné added, “I don’t want to be labeled ‘gay.’ I want to be labeled ‘a human who loves humans.’”

8. A quick celebrity divorce update. Before the papers are even filed, Nick Cannon has had his soon to be ex-wife’s name removed from his back. The tattoo that once was a symbol of the couple’s love is now a distant memory as Cannon has replaced the “MARIAH” tattoo with angel wings and Jesus on the cross. Cannon once told InTouch about the ink after he and Mariah Carey wed saying, “To me, rings are special and exciting, but tattoos mean more than anything. They’re forever and ever. They professed our love.” Another celeb couple officially calling it quits is Paula Patton and Robin Thicke. After spending months trying to get his wife back, Patton has finally filed for divorce. The two were married for nine years but have been separated for months.

9. Iggy Azalea’s husband files for divorce. To answer the questions that I assume are already going through your head — no  Iggy Azalea isn’t married to Laker boyfriend Nick Young and no, the two are not getting a divorce. In a strange turn of events Azalea’s ex-boyfriend Hefe Wine has filed for divorce from the rapper.  This is the same man the “Black Widow” singer is currently involved in a lawsuit over an alleged stolen sex tape with.  To not only our surprise, but to Azalea’s as well, Wine is now claiming they “agreed to be married” after living together in Texas and allegedly agreeing to a common law marriage. In Texas, the law states a couple can be considered legally married if they live together in the state for a period of time and agree to be married. However, to set the record straight, Azalea took to Twitter and said, “I think we already all know, but just to clarify. I’m NOT married. Feel free to check the PUBLIC marriage records…”

10. A leaked audiotape has surfaced of Hank Baskett allegedly speaking to his mistress.  The husband of Kendra Wilkinson has been in the headlines for having an alleged affair with a transsexual woman who is referred to as London. Most recently, a call between London and a man suspected to be Baskett was leaked, where the two are discussing their supposed affair. “I just wanted to confirm that you hadn’t said anything,” the man on the tape said to London. “They just said two weeks before Kendra was pregnant that I hooked up… I hate to say it ‘cause I would never say this word, but they said I hooked up with a tranny.” Before the audiotape was released, Wilkinson and Baskett admitted to working on their marriage, and the two are even starring on the next season of Marriage Boot Camp.
