5 TV Shows You Should Watch This Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

While I know it’s a stressful time with midterms, taking a study break will help you relax. One of the best de-stressors is catching up on your favorite television programs.

My Netflix queue knows this already, but I am obsessed with the shows “New Girl” and “Scandal.” While these are seasoned favorites, this time of year is popular for premieres of new shows. So put down your computer and grab your remote, because here are five must-see TV shows this fall!

“How to Get Away with Murder”

Like many others, I am considering attending law school after finishing my undergraduate degree and this show is perfect for peaking my interest. The masterminds behind “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” give viewers a glimpse at the daily lives of professor Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) and her law school students. It airs on Thursdays at 8/9 central on ABC.

“Selfie”

I know what you are thinking. I had the same thoughts. Someone actually turned this hit craze into a television show? The answer is yes! Eliza Dooley (Karen Gillian) is a social media-obsessed girl known for taking selfies and her Instagram. She realizes that she must make real friends causing her to hire an image guru to show that her there is more to life for this amazing girl. Play this one while studying if you like background noise. “Selfie” airs on Tuesdays at 8/7 central on ABC.

“Jane the Virgin”

Meet Jane Villanueva, a religious and hardworking girl from Miami, but everything changes when a doctor mistakenly artificially inseminates her during a routine checkup. How crazy? It gets better though! The biological donor happens to be her former teenage crush and the new owner of the hotel she works at! This hour-long comedy drama is based on the telenovela “Juana La Virgen” and will keep you entertained the whole time! It originally aired on October 13, but you can catch it at 8/9 central on the CW.

“A to Z”

Fans of “500 Days of Summer” will adore this romantic comedy series, Andrew and Zelda. (Get it?) I am excited to see all of the characters’ new experiences! Check it out on NBC on Thursdays 8:30/9:30 central.

“Stalker”

When I heard this “s word,” this show had my attention. Fans of “Law and Order” and “CSI” will get addicted to the suspense of this new drama, which focuses on the Los Angeles Police Department dealing with cases related to stalking accusations. Watch it on Wednesdays 10/9 central on CBS.
