Area of Study: Exercise Science

You can live in the world of any book for one full day. Which one do you choose and why?

Not to sound cheesy, but I would love to live in the Bible for one full day. There’s so many good stories in the Bible, I would just love to meet some of the people and see some of the great things that happened and actually live through it! I think that would be so neat!!

Alice Shy

Hometown: Miami, Florida

Areas of Study: Marketing Major, Film and Digital Technology Minor

What advice do you have for the Class of 2018?

You want to do something? Just do it.

Anna McDevitt

Hometown(s): New Mexico (where she was born) + Pittsburgh (where she grew up)

Areas of Study: History and English Double Major, African American Studies Minor

What is one thing that surprised you about Chatham?

What surprised me is how passionate every student is in her goals, whether personal, career, or educational. All of that plays into the classroom environment, where everyone is supportive of every other student. Every student wants her fellow students to thrive and become successful, and I find that is hard to attain in larger classroom settings and at larger institutions.

Evalynn Farkas

Hometown: South Heights, Pennsylvania

Areas of Study: Sustainability Major, Botany and Spanish Minors

A friend is visiting Pittsburgh, and you can only take them to do one thing. What would it be?

PHIPPS! I love the botanical gardens, and am always super excited to show visitors the architecture of the greenhouse and all of the wonderful things inside and outside. I dream of interning there.

Jessica Keller

Hometown: Pittsburgh

Areas of Study: Biochemistry and Psychology

You have a friend coming to visit Pittsburgh, and you can only take them to do one thing. What do you choose and why?

Only one thing! This is hard because there are so many things I like to do here. I think I would have to say that I would take them to a concert at Mr. Smalls Theatre. The atmosphere is so nice there, and you’re always close to the performer even if you are all the way in the back of the venue.

Kaitlyn Caramela

Hometown: Charleroi, Pennsylvania

Areas of Study: Public Relations Major (soon to be Arts Management), Political Science Minor

What was your favorite childhood Halloween costume?

In preschool we got to dress up for school and I was a dinosaur, and I thought it was really cool because all the other little girls were things like princesses and stuff like that and I was a dinosaur.

Maura Creighton

Hometown: Pittsburgh

Areas of Study: Arts Management Major, Graphic Design Minor (intended)

What is the most unexpected course you’ve taken at Chatham? What did you enjoy most about it?

As an art major, science is not really my thing. In the past I’ve been good at it, but I never really enjoyed it. This semester I took Applied Human Biology with Dr. Edenborn and it’s one of the best science classes I’ve ever taken. It’s set up different than the typical science course, and Dr. Edenborn is great at helping you succeed!

Maya Carey

Hometown: Columbia, Maryland

Areas of Study: Political Science and Women’s Studies

Imagine you can pick one TV or movie character to be your best friend for life. Who do you pick and why?

I would choose Frank Underwood from House of Cards…. He is manipulative and sneaky but he would seriously be a good person to have connections to in the political sector.

Boram Min

Hometown: Seoul, Korea

Areas of Study: Communications & Media with a concentration in Journalism & PR

What is one tradition you celebrate during the holiday season? What do you love about it?

I like being in a cozy café with a fireplace. There must be a holiday festival, and it must be crowded outside. I prefer watching the view through the window and talking of this, that and the other with my loving friends or family. That’s what gives me happiness. Actually it is a little bit different in this year. I went to Light Up Night. It was awesome:) Moreover I’ll go to New York City’s Times Square at the end of the year. I’m looking forward to it!!!

Kara Doss

Hometown: Scott Depot/Winfield area of West Virginia

Areas of Study: Women’s Studies and Psychology Double Major

What at Chatham are you thankful for?

My close group of friends that go on feminist rants with me, get angry at injustice, support me in whatever I do, lift up my spirits, and go to Rocky Horror showings with me at the Hollywood.
