With the second semester upon us, that can only mean one thing; Spring sports. And who doesn’t love watching the Tide dominate in basically everything we do? After a long and grueling offseason, our spring athletes are finally ready to show off what they’ve been working on. Our very own gymnastics powerhouse certainly has had no problem showing us why they’re the best. In their meet on Feb. 20, the Tide travelled to Athens, Ga. to battle the bulldogs in one of their most impressive meets this season. Pushing the limits with a season-high score on the road of 197.675, our girls and Head Coach Dana Duckworth have definitely proved that they are no team to mess with. No. 5 Alabama captured the victory of No. 11 Georgia with a 49.425 on the vault, 49.375 on the uneven bars, 49.350 on the balance beam and a 49.525 on the floor exercise. Senior Kaitlyn Clark crushed the competition by coming in first place on the balance beam, floor exercise and All-Around. The final score was 197.675 to 196.825.

Nearly 12,000 fans filled the stands of Coleman Coliseum on Friday, February 27th,  and cheered on Alabama gymnastics as they faced off against No.2 LSU. Despite a hard and grueling fight, the Tide fell to the Tigers 197.350-197.225. The close loss caused the Tide to break their six-year, 49-0 home winning streak. However, the team still put on a jaw-dropping performance that left the fans in awe. With the team’s lowest score of being only 9.850, it simply wasn’t enough to hold off the Tigers. Notable routines came from sophomore Amanda Jetter on the uneven bars with a score of 9.900, putting her on the first place podium. Jetter also scored a 9.900 on the floor exercise along with senior Hunter Dennis despite being a last minute rotation substitution and junior Carley Sims.  Win or lose, rain or shine, we still love our Crimson Tide!
