Alex Marra, an Olean native majoring in accounting, received first place in the 1-meter board and second place on the 3-meter board. He also received Male Diver of the Meet at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championship, which hasn’t happened for the St. Bonaventure dive team since 2013 and before that since 2003, according to the Atlantic 10 championship meet record book. This accomplishment has earned him the title of HC SBU’s first Campus Celebrity!
Her Campus: What are your favorite activities?
Alex Marra: “Hanging with friends or watching movies and TV shows. Anything that keeps my attention, I’ll be hooked on it.”
HC: Three words to describe yourself, go!
AM: “energetic, outgoing, fun.”
HC: What is something that you wish everyone knew about diving?
AM: “How they judge diving. Most people think when a dive is done it’s just based on the entry and how you enter the water. It’s much more than that. Factors that are accounted for include: height when leaving the board, mechanics and technique and pointing your toes. I don’t really do the last one though. I should probably start doing that.”
HC: What’s a secret skill that few people know about?
AM: “Playing basketball. I’m only 5’7” but people call me the next Spud Webb.”
HC: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
AM: “Definitely chicken parmesan!”
HC: What is your favorite TV show?
AM: “Right now, I’ve been watching a show called Arrow. It’s based off of the DC comic Green Arrow.”
HC: If you could be any character from Arrow, who would it be and why?
AM: “Oliver Queen. The man’s a billionaire playboy philanthropist. Doesn’t get much better than that.”
HC: What is your favorite thing about Bona’s?
AM: “For me, there isn’t one favorite thing about Bona’s I like. I grew up around this area my whole life and love everything about it. But if I would have to choose one thing it would be the people within Bona’s. Everyone’s a big family and looks out after each other.”
