After several grueling months of yet another Midwest Winter, Spring has finally arrived in the form of sandals, sunglasses and cold drinks! Lawrence is a cornucopia of places that offer delicious cold beverages that will suit just about anyone on these balmy spring days.

I have a tendency to crave smoothies on any morning when something sweet and fruity sounds perfect. Places like the Juice Stop, located right along Mass St., have a lot of delicious smoothies. If you haven’t been before, I’d suggest the Hat Trick, but then again it couldn’t hurt to be adventurous! If you like smoothies but don’t feel like battling with other drivers for parking, t.Loft, located near Wakarusa and Sixth, has a lot of delicious juices and smoothies that are made with fresh fruit and vegetables! You can definitely taste it.

On those more demanding mornings when you get a quarter of the sleep you were supposed to, coffee is the only answer. To begin with, if you haven’t been to Alchemy yet–drop everything and go now! Alchemy has some of the best cold-brew (in my opinion) and plenty of delicious iced coffee beverages. I’m not saying their cold-brew is the best I’ve ever had…but it is. Of course, Starbucks will always provide delicious caffeinated beverages for those looking for their favorite drink!

If you’re feeling something a little less rich and healthier than sugary coffee, tea might be a good choice! The House of Chá, located near Vermont and 9th St. has some renowned boba tea! Some people love this kind of tea, and some don’t, but if you haven’t tried it, it’s definitely worth a shot!

With spring here and the days finally growing warmer, there’s plenty to look forward to! Not just shorts and dresses but cold drinks as well. So, when summer finally rolls around and brings that humidity that Kansas is famous for, at least you know that these heavenly lifesavers are just around the corner.
