Urban Farmhouse Market and Cafe Coming Soon to VCU

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.
Attention VCU students! There’s a new addition coming to VCU’s campus. If you’re anywhere near Broad and Belvidere student housing, then you probably noticed all the construction going on. Remember when you weren’t allowed to park anywhere in front of B&B since the beginning of fall semester? Well now we know what the ruckus was about.

With no official opening date, The Urban Farmhouse Market and Café is moving into 800 W. Broad St. next door to the new pizza place, DiCarlo’s, and shoe store Wavy Kickz.

This new market and café is already well known in Virginia, with four other locations surrounding the Richmond and Midlothian area (1217 E. Cary St., 310 N. 33rd St. and 3015 Norfolk St.). The Urban Farmhouse Market and Café is similar to any other café or sandwich shop, but there’s one thing that stands out — the food served here is organic and vegan. Yes, I said it! The new café and market sells a variety of things that are organic, vegan and gluten free. You’ll also love this place because everything is served fresh and delivered daily, so no worries about pre-packaged food. Who wants that?

Also, Urban Farmhouse Market and Café is different from your average coffee shop since they sell sandwiches (lunch and dinner) along with groceries and beauty products. Sidenote: The beauty products here are locally made, so no worries about strange and random products! If you’re into music, Urban Farmhouse also has live entertainment for customers! People all around Richmond will be able to play different genres of music; if interested, I suggest you contact the store to set something up. Good news for you, art enthusiasts! Artists from Virginia can feature their work in the café. I say check it out since, I’m very artsy and creative myself. Although the place is still being renovated, I say it’s a 10, due to the positive reviews I’ve already heard from students around campus and how much they have to offer. Be on the lookout for more about The Urban Farmhouse Market and Café.
