Getting Involved: Pace Student Film Club

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pace chapter.

As a sophomore looking to be more integrated with the student body, going to the club fair back in September was an amazing way to see what Pace has to offer. As numerous tables lined the perimeter of the Student Union, one table titled“ Film Club” sparked an interest.

Liz Corbett, who is a sophomore double majoring in Arts & Entertainment Management and Business Economics, was at the activities fair talking to prospect students who were interested in the film industry. The Pace Student Film Club is a great fit where members can create their own films! The films for this semester will be announced soon. “The productions have just been chosen for this semester and the films will be announced soon. Once we have dates for the productions, we will ask for members to volunteer for positions on the films that they want to get involved in” Corbett adds.

Last year the club developed its 1st Annual Pace Student Film Fest where short films made by Pace students were nominated for various awards. This club is ideal for students who have a creative perspective and are willing to challenge themselves in an entertaining environment.

In addition to creating their own productions, each semester the club holds movie screenings at Pace as well as tickets to go see current movies in theaters. Their next screening is for the new James Bond movie Spectre, where twenty-five students can win free tickets.

One important factor in The Pace Student Film Club is to follow their social media sites in order to be connected with other members and know about future movie screenings and events. Below are the sites you can subscribe to right now!

You can also sign up to receive email updates by sending your name and email to pacestudentfilmclub@gmail.com

The Pace Student Film Club’s next meeting will be a screening of The Usual Suspects on Tuesday, October 20th at 9.00 p.m. in W511 of 1 Pace Plaza. In addition, Corbett informs that on Monday November 16th during Common Hour, from 12:10-1:10 p.m, members will be able to attend a Screenwriting Workshop. Students who are interested in joining the club should note that the club does not have set meeting times and are informed of the upcoming gatherings by email.

The staff is excited for what this semester has to offer with eager young filmmakers awaiting the opportunity to expand their knowledge and talents. If you cannot wait to see how behind the scenes action works while creating interesting projects along side your peers, than Film Club is the right choice! Also, who can beat free movie tickets? So join Pace Student Film Club and be apart of something more!
