Tell me about Radiation Therapy Club. What is its purpose/mission?
RT Club is for students who are interested in RT as a major. We are involved both on campus and in the community. We are dedicated to helping prospective students prepare for the program. We work to provide community service activities and a fun environment to get advice from those already in the major. We do this through a buddy system.
How did you get involved in RT?
I joined freshman year in preparation for applying to the radiation therapy major. I became president last year after I was selected to be in the program.
What do you hope to achieve as President of RT?
I hope to make this club more than just something to put on a resume. I am trying to make the meetings something that everyone will want to go to, as well as providing more opportunities for community service.
What do you enjoy most about it?
I enjoy meeting new people each year and helping others figure out their best chance for success when applying to the program. I also enjoy the community service aspect of the club. Every year, we try to make cards and blankets for patients at the hospital.
What have you learned/gained from being a part of this club?
I have had the opportunity to improve my organizational skills.
What are your plans after you graduate?
My plans are to be a radiation therapist somewhere back home. Hopefully, in a low stress environment.
