10 Motivational Quotes by Inspiring Women to Get You Through Midterms

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marywood chapter.

It’s safe to say that most of us have experienced the feelings that go along with midterm week. There’s the avoidance and denial, the realization period, and the panic-ridden cramming phase among many others. There’s the frustration, anxiety, tears, and the recurring “WHY ME?!”, which always seem to precede the dreaded week. It’s usually pretty hard to get motivated, no matter how much coffee we consume and how many stars we write next to assignments in our planners. So, in light of the dreaded week, here are some motivational quotes from some of the most powerful and iconic women to ever live to help boost spirits and hopefully motivate and inspire (because Beyonce’s goal-achieving mentality just cannot be beat):

1. “As soon as I accomplish one thing, I just set a higher goal. That’s how I’ve gotten to where I am.” -Beyonce Knowles

Life lessons from the Queen herself, as if we needed another reason to “bow down”.

2. “It’s a sin to be tired.” -Kate Moss

Kate speaks words of wisdom. Get your work done now, you can sleep when you’re dead.

3. “I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life’s a b*tch. You’ve got to go out and kick a**.” -Maya Angelou

Tell ‘em, Maya. Cannot even begin to describe how missed this woman is. An icon

and inspiration to people everywhere and this bit of advice is nothing less than fierce and

       motivating.

4. “A lot of people are afraid to say what they want. That’s why they don’t get what they want.” -Madonna

An extreme go-getter herself, Madonna is an example of a woman who definitely gets what

she wants when she wants it. Strive to get what you want, and if you don’t get it, just work

      harder.

5. “People think at the end of the day that a man is the only answer [to fulfillment]. Actually a job

is better for me.” -Princess Diana

The lovely Princess Diana still serves as a symbol for independence and her confidence in

      her abilities spoke for itself.

6. “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I’m possible!” -Audrey Hepburn

If you’ve seen Breakfast at Tiffany’s or My Fair Lady, you know how unique,

elegant and charming Audrey could be. She believed in herself, and preached to others to

      do the same.

7. “Success is often achieved by those who don’t know that failure is inevitable.” -Coco Chanel

Coming from one of the greatest fashion gurus of all time, these words are not to be taken

lightly. Don’t make failure an option.

8. “The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if

you’re willing to work.” -Oprah Winfrey

There’s no method to the madness. It might mean stepping on a few toes, but climbing the

ladder to success is only hindered by our own self doubt.

9. “Fearless is getting back up and fighting for what you want over and over again, even though

every time you’ve tried before, you’ve lost.” -Taylor Swift

If you don’t immediately start humming T-Swift’s “Fearless” after reading this, there’s

something wrong. The star knows what it’s like to try, fail, and try again and if anyone defines

the word “fearless” it’s undoubtedly her.

10. “Each time you make a good decision or do something nice or take care of yourself; each

time you show up to work and work hard and do your best at everything you can do, you’re

planting seeds for a life that you can only hope will grow beyond your wildest dreams. Take

care of the little things—even the little things that you hate—and treat them as promises to

your own future. Soon you’ll see that fortune favors the bold who get sh*t done.” -Sophia

Amoruso in #GIRLBOSS, Founder, CEO, and Creative Director of Nasty Gal, Author of

      #GIRLBOSS

If this doesn’t motivate you, I don’t know what will. Sophia Amoruso’s background is enough

to make you fully believe you can do anything. Not only is the book highly recommended,

but the quote is enough to make us want to ace every test that comes our way.

If you think about it, midterm week is just that: a week. Getting through it is undeniably

stressful and both physically and mentally exhausting, but when it comes to being seconds

from a nervous breakdown, take into account the philosophies of these astoundingly strong

and influential women and power through it. And let’s be real… Who doesn’t want to be

      like Beyonce?
