Winter Break is right around the corner, but before we can eat our body weight in holiday treats and watch unhealthy amounts of Netflix, we have to survive a college student’s least favorite week: finals.

1. Change that Netflix Password.

Trust us, it’s in your best interest to have a friend or family member change your the password for Netflix. It’ll be hard to part with our trusty pal, Netflix, but just think of the binge-watching reunion that will commence the moment Winter Break starts.

2. Strategize.

Look at the week ahead of you. While our dead week means we still have classes to go to, papers due, and quizzes to take, time for studying has to make the cut. Even if it’s in tiny increments, studying for a little is better than not studying at all.

3. Study Locations.

It’s like everyone on campus just realized we had a library. It’s packed and study rooms have been booked for weeks. If you want to accept the challenge, get to the library early and don’t plan on leaving anytime soon because as soon as you do, that spot is gone for good. Think of it like camping out for Black Friday. You get there early and defend your spot. If a crowded library isn’t your cup of tea, try out some new study spaces. Give Cathedral Coffee a try.

4. Schedule Study Breaks

Study breaks are an absolute must as long as the study breaks aren’t longer than the actual studying. I know it’s difficult to do, but you have to set a time limit on those study breaks. Need a break from microeconomics? Go grab a coffee, don’t even think about  going on Facebook or Buzzfeed. If you do, before you know it 3 hours will have gone by.

5. Stay Focused.

Yes, I know that’s easier said than done, but you got to keep the eyes on the prize: passing those finals. Make rewards for yourself to help stay focused. Study for 2 hours, then you get to enjoy some ice cream or paint your nails.
