Your phone just notified you that your battery is at 10% and this might be the worst thing to happen to you all day. If it is, you’re not alone. There is actually a named disorder for a fear of being without your phone – it’s called nomophobia and it’s very real. Think you might be addicted? Do these signs apply to you?
1. Checking your phone is the first thing you do in the morning when you wake up, and the last thing you do before bed at night.
2. Your phone is always in your hand, in your pocket, or in your bag. You can’t go anywhere without it.
3. If you happen to drop your phone your stomach drops with it, and the moments in between dropping it and picking it up cause you great anxiety.
4. You constantly refresh Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook so you always know what everyone is doing at any given moment.
5. Checking these social medias actually gives you FOMO.
6. You and your best friends text at every waking moment. There’s never a time when you’re not talking, and if she doesn’t answer right away you wonder where on earth she could be that she’s not on her phone.
7. You text and use your phone in class under the table. Don’t worry: we all do it.
8. Everywhere you go and everything you do has a picture in your camera roll to go along with it.
