All the single ladies, now put your hands up
If it was anything like my break-up, you probably had a really shit time initially. Plenty of tears were shed, plenty of sleepness nights occurred, and just facing your daily routine was like trying to reach the peak of Mount Everest – almost impossible.
It’s a weird sensation suddenly being single. You’re still you, but at the same time you’re not, cause a massive part of you isn’t there anymore, and you’re trying to carry on with your life – but how can you when it’s all just so drastically changed!? Yeah, break-ups are confusing as, and don’t even try to figure out why he dumped you or why you suddenly decided he wasn’t for you anymore – that answer remains well and truly a mystery.
I’ve only just realised that break-ups are NOT about him. Why should you care why he did it? Why should you care how he’s feeling? Why should you even bother to waste your time reminiscing over memories that won’t change where you are now. He does not define you anymore, he is not a part of you anymore, you choose where your life goes from here on – there is no boy determining it for you.
We are so young and there is so much more of life to come. There are people out there that we’ve never even met, but in a few year times they’ll be our friends. There are places we’ve never visited before, but we will soon, and things we’ve never done that we’ll finally think ‘why not?’
Your life is yours and yours only. Set your goals, dream your dreams and go out there and achieve them. Focus on you and what you want from life and stop thinking about what you could have had if you were still together. Instead, think about what you can do now that you couldn’t do then! If your relationship didn’t work out, well hey, think about who you might meet next?
You get to have a first kiss all over again, butterflies in your stomach on your first date, you get to meet someone new, and find out all of their funny little quirks. You get to fall in love with someone else and grow even more as a person than you already have.
But for now – enjoy the freedom of being single!
You have your whole life ahead, girl, and it’s only just beginning. So put your seatbelt on and enjoy the ride, cause you’re gonna have a whale of a time.
