In Spring of 2015 the University of Houston became home to Hector De La Miyar, a junior student who craves success and exudes passion in everything he does.

After transferring from a community college in Laredo, TX, Hector is now pursuing a degree in economics at UH.

He wastes no time getting involved on campus by being a part of Asian Business Student Association (ABSA), Hispanic Business Student Association, Supply Chain Student Association, and Economic Club.

“I wanted to take full advantage of all the opportunities the University of Houston had to offer me and decided to join the aforementioned organizations,” said Hector.

Continuing to obtain success at UH, Hector is now the Corporate Director for ABSA.

I organiz[e] corporate events for companies, recruiters, and sponsors. In addition, I organize workshops for members and assist in gathering sponsorships to help fund our organization,” said Hector.

Out of all the organizations at Bauer he is involved in, ABSA offers a unique aspect that cannot be found anywhere else; the family program.

“The family program provides friendship, guidance, personal growth and professional development,” says Hector.

Students like Hector De La Miyar who are goal oriented and remain humble are what help the University of Houston continually grow and reach new heights.

"Writing means sharing. It's part of the human condition to want to share things - thoughts, ideas, opinions."
